In summary

Skytop Mountain Golf Club is frequently praised for its well-maintained course, challenging layout, and stunning mountain views, making it a favorite among golfers in the State College area. The staff, particularly Gary, receives commendations for their friendliness and professionalism. However, some visitors note the course's narrowness and difficulty, which can lead to lost balls, and mention that the driving range and clubhouse amenities could use improvement. Additionally, there was an isolated complaint about unprofessional behavior from a staff member, which detracted from an otherwise enjoyable experience.

Cant imagine a better golf experience for the money! Gary, the "proshop" operator at the time, is incredibly nice and made me feel welcomed (up from Houston visiting). Yes the greens are soft but tough and run true. Yes the course is narrow and forces your club choice off the box, but plenty of opportunities to tee it high and let it fly. Yes the course slopes, like everywhere, but the views! If I had the time I'd play it again. $30 replays. Not crowded during the week in the mornings. Thanks Gary!

Played here after a night of rain and you couldn’t even tell - other than cart path only. Fairways were in great shape and the greens still had speed to them. The layout of the course is incredible and the views are breathtaking.

This is a neat course. There are some amazing views. The course was in surprisingly good condition considering it never rains anymore. This place is challenging. They’re not kidding about the mountain in the name. You will hit 18 non-putting shots where your feet are level with the ball. Seriously that could be it. The driving range may make you angry if you’re trying to warn up before your round. You might find hit-able grass but you’ll be standing in a divot. It is bad. Otherwise recommend.

What an amazing time. This is my favorite course in PA. The air is crisp and brisk all at the same time. The course flows and just is amazing. Early morning rounds here just are a perfect way to start your day in PA. Well worth the visit just don’t get to busy you forget me. Hahaha.

Pretty great course, well taken care of and good price. Can be tough if it gets windy as the course is pretty skinny. Overall really pretty and would recommend.

An absolute diamond in the rough. Excellent condition and highly picturesque. Keep your drive in play, which makes the course fun with expansive, generous greens. Can be challenging, but that just makes you want to come back. I recommend getting the course book from the pro shop so you know where the water hazards are. There are quite a few. Really enjoyable day!

Well maintained course with a few challenging holes. If you aren’t experienced, or have issues keeping it in the fairway, bring extra balls !!!

Great course with short, narrow holes. Course is typically in excellent shape and priced right for the area.

Local, avid golfers who play multiple times per week. Decided to give this course a try…it’s honestly in the best shape of any course I’ve played in a really long time. Fairways are in excellent shape, and greens are very impressive (can be quick but beautiful). Challenging holes but very fair. All four Par 3s are absolutely amazing. Incredibly friendly staff. Gary was excellent. Will be back again.

My first time playing here, as I just moved back to the area and its 10 minutes from my house. All I can say is, WOW, what a fantastic course. Its in great shape, fairways are immaculate, greens roll true and the views throughout the course are just amazing. I will be coming here as often as I can. Keep up the great work!

What a terrific course! Tight, challenging, but some payoffs are waiting if you can shape and smack it. The scenery is amazing. I'm glad I brought binoculars because the birds coming through on migration were very cool (we played may 9th). Can't wait to play this course again. Prices fair as well. Nice job SMGC!

Came here with a couple of beginner golfers (hitting bogeys + double bogeys mostly). The park ranger followed us around and verbally harassed us, even though we weren't slowing anyone down. We let a couple people play through but were actually stuck behind someone for most of our time there. It was hard to tell whether he was angry that we were bad at golf or because we had a person of color in our party, who he was especially rude to. Either way, his behavior was very unprofessional and ruined our trip. The course itself was quite nice. We did have to walk through some mud at points but I im…
