In summary

Toftrees Golf Resort is praised for its beautiful natural setting, well-maintained golf course, and friendly staff, making it a popular choice for weddings and golf enthusiasts. However, many guests express dissatisfaction with the outdated and sometimes unclean hotel accommodations, as well as inconsistent service at the on-site restaurant. While the resort offers a peaceful location and good food options, some visitors feel that the facilities require significant updates to match the venue's scenic appeal.

On a work trip in November and the hotels power went out for five hours of the overnight trip. Pitch black most of the night, no back up lights, no one let anyone know what was going on or expected times for power to come back on. There was no back up generator. They would not refund my stay. Staff said they refunded 25$ to booking.com and booking.com said they did not.

Just finished our daughter’s wedding at Toftrees. The hotel is a bit dated for sure but the nature that surrounds it is outstanding. For a wedding destination this place is 💯! The outdoor ceremony location overlooks the golf course, pond and mountains - so beautiful. The wedding planner, Katie, is simply awesome at her job. She is completely devoted to ensure that your event is flawless and she delivered! She deserves a raise no matter what she is making. If you are looking to get married in the State College area, do yourself a favor and meet with Katie. Almost forgot to mention…The Fields r…

Stayed here for a wedding on-site and the room was definitely on the lower end of hotel I’ve stayed in. Definitely outdated (which is fine, but could absolutely use a refresh and some color other than brown), but the room was very much not clean and had visible gunk spread throughout the room. The clean towels in the bathroom had hairs and other dirt in them, and worst of all was that the pillows were larger than the pillowcases so part of the pillow was sticking out no matter how much we tried to stuff it in. The ac unit in the room was also extremely loud and the sheets were quite scratchy.…

The front desk receptionist was very kind and friendly. Restaurant hostess was very rude to us when we walked in. They were busy and it was 930, she told us they closed at 10 and she didn’t want to seat us. A nice waitress came over and offered to seat us immediately and apologized, stating that they just can’t take orders after 10 and that we were fine to sit and eat. Milkshakes were great! Rooms were horrific. Tiny beds and room. I turned on the fan and it made the loudest noise, sounding like I was taking off in a jet. We were then forced to be very hot all night, rather than listen to the…

As a venue, the facility is beautiful and the food is great however, the hotel rooms look like they haven’t been updated since the early 90s, musty, peeling wallpaper, the tub sounded like I was going to fall through it when showering, and the patio was covered in grass clippings and the chairs in dust. I got a “deluxe” room so I at least had a mini fridge but there was still no microwave with the exception of one in the lobby that barely works, I was disappointed to say the least. They also automatically place a charge at check in with a $100 security deposit with no warning and then charged…

Absolutely disgusting. Not cleaned from the last person that stayed. Garbage on the ground, dirty towels on the ground, and best of all, BLOODY BED SHEETS!!! Nasty. Stay away!

I was there for a conference. I called ahead to make reservations for lunch and wad told they don't take reservations and they never have problems seating people for lunches at conference , BUT I was late getting back to the conference (I didn't want to inhale my lunch)

The room had thin walls, was rather small, and the tv was small, too. The beds were decently comfortable. The toilet in my room was a little too close to the floor for my taste. The restaurant was decent, but $25 for a steak sandwich and fries

Serviceable at best. Old, worn out furnishings and decor that smell musty. Heat doesn’t work well. Either too hot or too cold. Had to wake up several times during the night to adjust the thermostat. Food at the restaurant was very good, but we had to wait an hour and a half to get seated. No room service available. No refrigerator in room. Bottled water costs $4. Poor WiFi connection. Think of it as a budget motel with a golf course. Definitely not worth the price. Much nicer hotels available in the area for less money. I think they’re surviving on their reputation from decades ago, but it isn…

Unfortunately, this place is not only old but rundown. The entire hotel just kind of smells bad. You can tell they try to keep it clean but the place needs major renovations. I wanted to try it out because location to the University is great but I would not recommend. The front desk worker was polite enough but didn't give us any information at all about the place. College town, so kids I guess.

Played only 9 holes of the golf course due to weather but very well maintained, excellent views and very pleasant staff. If you are in the area you need to play it.
