In summary

River Forest Country Club receives praise for its friendly and accommodating staff, as well as its suitability for hosting events, with several guests appreciating the beautiful setting and service. However, many visitors express disappointment with the golf course's condition, citing issues such as dry and poorly maintained fairways and greens. Additionally, some diners find the food and dining experience to be subpar, particularly during special occasions like Thanksgiving.

Our dinner was average. Service was amazing and everybody was very friendly. The inside decor could definitely use a refresh. The table was wobbly and small. Drinks were reasonably priced, but the meals were just okay. The fish was a bit over fried, and the coleslaw seemed dry and just wasn’t fresh. The steak salad was good but the steak was a bit overcooked and it was somewhat small. I would come back and give this place another chance because the portions were adequate, and regular patrons seemed to be very happy. This just could have been an off day. The golf course is a beautiful atmospher…

Had Thanksgiving dinner with wife and sister. Bill was$151 for3. Servers were great. Food was very below average and disappointing. Cornbread stuffing was like sawdust. I would have been ashamed to serve it. Portions very small, although I was told I could go back. Dessert was pudding or dried out cupcakes. Tried to get pumpkin pie but it was gone. Sorry, I won't go back. Save your money and look elsewhere. My honest opinion and I am not picky.

Had Thanksgiving dinner here on 11/27/2025, Adults were $38 per person, children were $12. Food was mediocre at best. Lukewarm, turkey and cornbread dressing were dry and tasteless. Beans and corn were overcooked. Portions were small. Food seemed to be prepared well ahead of time causing it to be dry and tasteless. Total bill was nearly $300 for 5 adults and 2 children. Banquet gratuity added in was $46, or 20% of table items. Credit card fee was $9, or 3% of subtotal and tax. Additional tip suggestions at bottom of bill for 20, 22, or 25%. The banquet gratuity went to our server. Save your mo…

Played on 3/12/25. Anytime you can play golf in mid March in western PA it is a good day. River Forest is an appropriate name for this course. While you can’t see the river from the course, you are very close, and there are more than a few trees on this course. If you try to cut a corner on the numerous par 4 dog leg rights or the one dog leg left you’re likely going to hit a tree or be behind one. Hit away from the corner. You will have a longer second shot, but at least you will have a shot. The course was definitely beat up and raw after the winter. Tee boxes were very chewed up per the…

What was once a beautiful golf course has been reduced to little more than a dirt patch. The greens are pretty much ruined. There are so many dead and dry areas that it's impossible to putt. The tee boxes are overrun with crabgrass and the general maintenance has been neglected for quite some time. If you're looking for a decent course, look elsewhere.

This was literally the worst golfing experience I have ever had. Guy in the pro shop is outrageously rude. Fairways are so hard it’s like your ball hitting concrete half the time. Half the fairways are dead, greens have so many divots. Let’s me pay online for 18 holes at 5pm I get there the guy in the pro shop says we are not going to be playing 18 and can only play 9 if I want a cart because he wants the carts back at 8. Okay cool then don’t let me purchase 18 at that time? So had to pay for 9 holes? Still waiting on my refund for the 18 from my online purchase. I would never golf here again.…

Every part of the course is in terrible shape all year. Management needs to figure out how to properly water the course this offseason, or the course will have to be sold again.

Beautiful golf course with a great bar and restaurant and they also rent E-bikes and bikes to ride on the Treadway Trail which is Beautiful. Great job by current owners.

Played here today. I will never play here again. Most of the grass on the course was dead. The fairways were dirt. The tee boxes were dirt. Absolute dump of a course. I would never recommend to anyone to play here. Complete waste of $50. Should cost $10 with the condition it was in.

The course was relatively alright. Fairways & greens were nice. The rough wasn't good at all. Lots of white clover everywhere making finding your ball difficult at times. The worst part of the day was the $5 breakfast sandwich with one paper thin slice of ham on it & $9 mixed drink that the girl poured ginger ale out of an open top pitcher for. The ginger ale was flat as can be. Round was a bit pricey at $52 for the overall experience. Staff was all very friendly though.

Greens in nice shape. Otherwise, the course is a mess. Cart paths are in need of replacement and/or repairs. The fairways are 90% dirt with little to no grass.
