In summary

Canewood Golf Course is often praised for its friendly staff and challenging layout, particularly on the back nine, with a visually pleasing setting featuring trees and streams. However, many recent reviews express significant dissatisfaction with the condition of the greens, describing them as bare and poorly maintained, which has led to disappointment among golfers. Some visitors also mention issues with the tee boxes and a lack of practice facilities, suggesting that improvements are needed to enhance the overall golfing experience.

Someone sabotaged the pond water (which is what is used to water the greens) to kill the grass on all the greens. Go to a different course. Don’t even think about spending a dollar here. This picture is #18 and the best green on the course and it is terrible by any standard. We didn’t discover this until we saw the 1st green and then not even a partial refund was offered.

Wish I would have read the reviews for this course before booking a tee time. Greens were in the worst shape they could have possibly been in and forget trying to get a line on a putt. The course should tell you about the shape the greens are in before dropping the kinda money they are asking. Would highly recommend seeking out another course to play before paying to play here.

CHECK AND ASK ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THIS COURSE BEFORE YOU SLAP DOWN YOUR MONEY!!! Played course on 7/22/25. Staff is friendly. Course is in terrible condition. All the greens (postage stamp greens) were in dire need of repair and resurfacing. Some greans had little to no grass at all and you are putting on mud. There were hardly any other groups on the course (probably due to the poor condition of the course) so pace of play was excellent. Course is laid out fine except trying to get to the 12th hole. The tee boxes are better than the greens and in some cases bigger than the greens. Don't ex…

Excellent golf course. Several challenging holes. Driver may not be best choice on some holes.

Before making a tee time ask about conditions of the greens. Played 8/9/25 and found all 18 greens without any grass. Greens were dyed green but nothing but bare dirt. Was not informed of this when booking tee time. Paid full rate. Never again.

No range or practice area... Front 9 has 1 par 5 and 3 par 3s and honestly plays easy ( #3 though with ob left and water down the whole right side can play tough so keep it in play or a big number can easily go on your card ).... Back 9 is much tougher and overall a much better layout, #11 is a fun downhill par 3 and the green has a ton of slope so depending on the pin location and where you hit your tee shot can get interesting, #15 a very solid tight par 4....course condition a coin toss... BEST THING ABOUT THIS COURSE IS THE MEMBERS!! WEDNESDAY NIGHT LEAGUE PRETTY SWEET TOO

Almost $30 for 9 holes on 8/25/2025. Leaving one star because no one said anything to us before starting play about the greens here. Got to the first green and it just spray painted dirt, cracked and covered in holes. Looks like someone took a flamethrower to every single green. Call and ask about them before you play here.

If you are looking for somewhere to golf fall of 2025 then DO NOT go there. Especially if you are out of town this is an embarrassment to Kentucky golf courses. You will be disappointed, and I’m not one to complain much. This place should be shut down until they can repair the greens. You would be better off playing in your own yard. No joke don’t waste your time or money unless you don’t care about anything except working on your shot off the tee.

There is absolutely zero policing of the course unless it is during one of their leagues. Pace of play can easily run into 15-20 minutes per hole. They recently put QR codes around the course to order food, but you cannot order a hotdog, burger, or any other golf course food because of the restaurant.

I just talked to the pro. He was very professional. They are fixing and re-seeding all greens. For serious golfers, I would wait until late April 2026.

Call the Police It is a crime to call this place a golf course! All 18 greens are closed and no warning was given. Staff didn't seem to care and they gave no discount. Save your time and money. ..hard pass.

Well kept. Great food. Great silent carts. No GPS. Could use better directional signage for first time players. Course is challenging but fair.
