In summary

The Course at Yale is frequently praised for its classic design, challenging layout, and the welcoming nature of its staff, with many visitors appreciating the scenic setting and unique character of the course. However, some players have expressed disappointment with the current condition of the greens and fairways, noting maintenance issues that are expected to be addressed in an upcoming major restoration. Despite these concerns, many golfers still find it to be a memorable and enjoyable golfing experience.

The design and layout of this golf course is amazing. If you hit the ball well, then you can score well. But make sure you don’t get into some of the green side bunkers or you will have to hike out! The maintenance is just horrible right now. The course will close this fall for a major restoration. It is well needed. The greens did not winter well and were half dead and very bumpy. The staff was super nice. They went way out of their way to make us feel welcome. I went expecting a top 50 public course and found the design was a top 50 but the quality was not even close. Can’t way for it to…

I played on September 4th as a YGC Guest. The tee boxes were horrendous, the fairways were nonexistent, some bunkers were rock hard, and the greens were bumpy and not maintained. For $125 I expected much more. The only positive was the staff at the course - everyone was extremely kind and welcoming.

Have been enjoying the great conditions this spring at the course. Need to play as much as possible before the close for renovation at the end of the season.

Excellent course with a very challenging front 9. The people working here were super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back soon!

My expectations were much higher for a course of ivy league status. Many many divots not replaced but greens were good although some where a bit hokey

For a course that is closing end of this year for what could be a two restoration, My group and I had the day of all days. The course was better the we ever imagined. No its not currently Winged Foot but I would rate it top 3 public courses in CT. Besides a great layout. The staff was Amazing. Thanks Pete (GM) for an amazing experience today.

Playing this classic design is an absolute treat. The staff is very welcoming. They have made incredible progress since last year restoring the turf . I highly recommend getting out and taking a spin before the fall closure. Thank you Peter for your hospitality!

I played Yale with my father 15 years ago. We had the best day ever. The course had so much backbone!

By far the best course I have ever played! Breathtaking views, perfect condition on greens and tee boxes, and unmatched service. Can't say enough about how well they treated us! The 9th hole was something else! Lots of fun

Completely disappointing! Greens were horrible! Not maintained No signs, trash cans The amount of money they charge for a course with this condition is a joke! This reminds me of my 26 dollar 18 hole course back home that is great for practicing irons. Save your money and pay half at a way nicer course like Gillette.

A tough course. You won't find many yardage markers on the course. Must by the yardage book or have a good GPS. Many greens are hidden and tucked so line if sight players will have challenges. Course beautiful in fall. Can't get on any more, must have a Yale person in your 4-some. So it is special when you can get on. Final note, greens are enormous, fast, a 4-puttable, with little effort. Can't wait go back.
