In summary

Sunken Meadow State Park is widely praised for its beautiful setting on Long Island's north shore, offering well-maintained beaches, scenic boardwalks, and ample amenities such as picnic areas, playgrounds, and hiking trails. Visitors appreciate the park's cleanliness, plentiful parking, and opportunities for outdoor activities like yoga and stargazing. However, some visitors mention the $8 entrance fee and the rocky beach terrain as minor drawbacks, and note that pets are not allowed.

A great place. The embankment with its spruce trees and fine sand is simply magnificent. The beach area is large and well-maintained. The picnic area is clean and comfortable. There's plenty of parking. There's a playground for children. Park entrance is $8. I definitely recommend visiting!

Sunken Meadow is a beautiful state park located on the north shore of Long Island. It has a boardwalk with stunning views of the sound, hiking trails through the wetlands, and a number of athletic fields. We visited for a cross country event this morning. It was eight dollars to enter the park and the price was worth every penny. This place is beautiful!

Went first time on a Friday and parking was free at the time. Really enjoyed the beach and went back the following day and was charged $8 for parking maybe coz it’s weekend. It was well worth it. Nice beach area, can go for a long walk along the shoreline. Also has boardwalk lined with benches and water fountains strategically positioned every now and then good for walkers/ joggers. Can bike around but I didn’t try it, although I believe there are restrictions to cycling depends on season. Restrooms well kept and they also have shower area. Playground for kids and designated area for bbq. Plen…

Seems nice BUT $8 bucks to get in, no swimming, no pets barely any people except for students and families getting dingged for dropping off and picking up their kids. I'm better off going to all the other free parks in LI with more flexible amenities.

Excellent clean beach with lots of parking and restrooms. Nice boardwalk along the beach. Clean calm water of Northern Long Island. The only one drawback the beach has lots of small beach pebbles which may be annoying to step on. But it’s a minor flaw. Overall, a great beach and park for the entire family.

We love this park and have been going for years. There is a nice boardwalk and plenty of parking. We were happy to see signs posted for no loud music on the beach because sometimes on weekends it can be loud. We prefer weekday trips there. They are also starting to post their summer beach yoga program. Additionally there are some areas closed for endangered species of birds for those bird lovers. No pets are allowed and bikes on the Boardwalk are only allowed before 9 am.

It was nice walking near the bay butcher clientele on the North Shore came across snobby and snooty. While walking very few, if any, people smiled or said hi. I'll stick to the South Shore where people are friendly and caring.

There is a lot going on at this park. For 1 it has a beach on the other side which is gorgeous. They managed to keep it overall clean especially the benches, patios, and the restaurant quarters. They have binoculars you can use for 25 cents at a time for about 5 minutes or so to look far into the abyss. Be careful though about the sand because it does get pretty hot during the day. I would also recommend not walking on the pier with bare feet because you may get tetanus which is hard to treat. There are several parking lots located all around the park which have several hundreds of spots for y…

Beautiful park with great trails & an outstanding beach. The trails are well maintained and the beach is very clean. It is a rocky/shell beach do keep that in mind but it’s less crowded than the south shore beaches.

This would be my 2nd time visiting this huge park. 1st time was last year with same group of people. This park is located on the north shore of long island so you'll have beach access at no extra cost. The fee to enter is $10 they accept all forms of payment. Park has two sections plus th beach. Here youll find two different playgrounds and two large parking lots. The grills are located in the 1st section as you drive in. You're allowed to bring your one girll aswell dogs are not allowed unfortunately. One of the best things about the park its is size which means people are not on top of each…

This was a beautiful place to walk by the water and feel the sense of calm that water provides. I remember seeing benches by the parking lot, a staircase down to get to the sand, and people with their pets and/friends. It was lovely to visit and I would return again. I didn't need a restroom so I cannot comment on it. Enjoy your time there if you have the opportunity.
