In summary

Spring Lake Golf Club receives praise for its well-maintained course, friendly staff, and inviting atmosphere, with many visitors appreciating the scenic layout and reasonable pricing. The club's catering and event services are also highlighted positively, particularly the efforts of standout staff members. However, some visitors express dissatisfaction with slow greens, occasional staff rudeness, and issues with pace of play, which can detract from the overall experience.

Well maintained golf course out east on Long Island in Suffolk County. The golf course is not particularly long, but has narrow fairways that are lined with trees. Definitely a fun round of golf that's reasonably priced.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – A Thanksgiving Golf Outing to Remember at Spring Lake! Our Thanksgiving outing at Spring Lake Golf Course in Middle Island, NY was nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and everything you could hope for on a holiday spent outdoors with great company. A huge part of what made the day exceptional was Michael, one of the standout employees at Spring Lake. His professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail elevated the entire experience. Whether it was coordinating our group, keeping everything running smoothly, or simply…

Update: if you read my review and photos below from 2024, the course is in unbelievable shape compared to that. Kudos to the team there. Here’s the problem with this course though: while the greens “look” great, they are some of the slowest on Long Island. I assume this is done on purpose to prevent burnout and not slow down play from super fast greens. They are very receptive but good luck trying to make a putt. The grass is kept at a higher height than other courses and they are very moist. So what happens? They become spongy. And after a few groups play on the greens, footprints everywhere…

My daughter's bridal shower was absolutely amazing! Mike Rodriguez went above and beyond to cater to our every need, he was simply the best! He was attentive and on top of everything from the planning stages, set up and day of. The food was delicious and the staff courteous. I would highly recommend Spring Lake Caterers for your next event!

Just finished playing 18 at Spring Lake 9/9/25! The course was great as was the day. Easy 18 hole walking course. Nice to have cart servers wing by three or 4 times during round. Chris in the pro shop was great help and great guy. Glen Head

NEVER have I been so humiliated. looked down at 1:57 tee time, the cashier said $75 (not worth it) I asked about senior rate "no" vet rate "no" she informed me "no one else is complaining!" i asked about a "twilight" fee she said that's 2:00. I said I'll wait and pay after 2 then the woman bold faced lied and said that"s not going to happen we're booked solid after 2! I had $73 I explained I'm a senior with a bad knee how much to walk she said $55 ! I asked again "you're going deny me a cart for $2" she just staired at me. While I was waiting for my group a young man walked up asked me what my…

My whole family has played golf here for years, my husband and I, my three sons and their wives, and now we are bringing our grandsons. That being said they will no longer have our business, it’s not because of the grounds they are lovely but it’s the staff, one in particular i believe her name is Cristy the golf professional, professional at what being rude and abrasive? In this age of reviews and customer service, it’s disappointing to see such unprofessionalism at a place that’s been in business since the 1960’s. My suggestion is to head over to Willow Creek. It’s a shame one rude uncaring…

This was the first time I played this course. I was a walk up on a holiday and the staff was great. They were able to check the next availability tee time (it was in 11 minutes) I registered and was off. I'm a beginner and loved the look of the 1st tee on Sandpiper. And yes I donated a ball there as well. Great first impression and had fun on my second round of golf ever.

I have played Spring Lake several times this year, the most recent being today. The course (18-hole Thunderbird) is in excellent condition - fairways and greens. When I drove into the parking lot this morning, an attendant brought a cart over to me which was very nice. I don’t think they’re able to do it for everyone. Then when I was up by the pro shop I discovered that my foursome already had two carts. A friendly , helpful starter. (Barbara, I believe) sorted it out and the extra cart disappeared. I paid inside. A friendly gentleman took my money - $85 on a Sunday. More than reasonable. We t…

My husband and I played in the couples golf league this summer (2025) and had the most delicious awards dinner thanks to Mike, the new caterer. Every week during the league Mike made it special for us with beautiful appetizers that were designed with love and flowers. What a wonderful addition Mike has been to the Spring Lake Golf Club this year. We also love Christy, the golf pro, who runs the league! Thank you to everyone who maintains this special Long Island golf course. Sincerely, Peter & Linda Perniciaro
