In summary

Richter Park Golf Course is widely praised for its well-maintained conditions, scenic layout, and attentive staff, offering an enjoyable and challenging experience for golfers of all skill levels. The course's setting beside the West Lake Reservoir provides beautiful views, and the amenities, including a pro shop and practice facilities, are well-received. However, some visitors mention issues with slow pace of play and challenges for older golfers due to the hilly terrain and cart path restrictions. Additionally, while the golf course is appreciated, there are concerns about the maintenance of other facilities like hiking trails and courts.

It can not be understated how fantastic the staff and hospitality of richter park golf course is. From top to bottom their care, attention to detail, selflessness and effort are unmatched. From Jon Pinto the pro who has such a thumb on the pulse of what it takes to be a modern golf pro, to the immaculate course maintenance, to the fantastic food and beverage service staff, this has to be one of the top public golf course not just in Fairfield county but all of Connecticut. Affordable. (Actually cheap for what they offer, but let’s not tell them that) great cknditions, gorgeous green complexes,…

My review is not about the Golf Course itself, but about the Nature Trails. Very well maintained, extremely well marked, they offer a cool place to hike any time of the year. I like the Red trail, but the Blue trail is also quite nice since it takes you down close to the water. Nice place to take photos

Have not played there for 6 years or so but played there often when i 18 to 30 years old ! Im from the area ! The course lay out is awesome , the conditions are usually great but the people here that run it treat it like a country club. The person that gave this course to danbury ct had stated it could never be used as a country club so the way the club got around that was to treat the people of danbury special and crap on out of towners especially thru there fee schedule! This has lead to the town of danbury people having a country club at there disposal !!

Great golf course — both fun and challenging! The lake views are stunning, and I was amazed at how well maintained it is for a public course.

I play plenty of golf at plenty of public and private courses. In this area I can’t imagine any club coming even close to this one. I mean wow , I couldn’t believe what a great place it was. Service at the pro shop was incredible. The check in was easy and the staff did everything short of hitting my tee shot for me off the first tee. They even offered complimentary range balls for me to warm up with. The club is in great condition. Scenery out of this world. And the play was moderate time of 4hrs 15 minutes. Certainly average. I did hear it could be a 5 plus hour round typically. Even the ran…

Richter - a dump and embarrassment to Danbury. It's no wonder Danbury can't attract businesses and people are leaving the area. "Richter", as it is known, is really 5 things: a public golf course, a hiking trail, a tennis court, a basketball court, and a restaurant. Unfortunately the Board and Management are not qualified or incapable of performing their job duties in maintaining the hiking trail, tennis court and basketball court. As a hiking trail Richter does absolutely nothing to maintain the trail or help the hikers. Ironically the trail head is overgrown with grass and weeds even thoug…

Scenic course. First time playing and some tricky holes where local knowledge would have been helpful. And it's the first course I've played where I was given a warning about humus.

Not a good course for those of us over 80. . Most of the tees and greens are on severe slopes which are tough to navigate. There are too many longer holes that are cart path only whiich also makes it difficult to walk. There is very little rollout so it makes the course play long. I also had a problem with the GPS system stating that we were 6 to 10 minutes behind. When we reached the tee we almost always had to wait on the group ahead of us. I guess they wanted us to hit into them so we would be on the so- called correct time. Overall it wasn't a good experience.

In the 1980s this public course in Danbury was rated by Golf Digest as one of the best in the country. What Richter Park has going for it is the location, on rolling, wooded terrain beside the ample West Lake Reservoir. That water comes into play often, with 14 of the 18 holes featuring a water hazard, while the stiff slopes and newly renovated bunkers will punish even the smallest misjudgment. Safe to say that despite being a public course, Richter Park is a course for people confident in their accuracy. For non-residents, a full round will cost $73 on weekdays and $83 on weekends (cart c…
