In summary

The Rawls Course at Texas is widely praised for its challenging and well-designed layout, maintained in excellent condition, and supported by friendly and accommodating staff. Visitors appreciate the scenic setting and quality amenities, including the food and practice facilities. However, some guests have noted issues with slow pace of play, ball marks on greens, and occasional dissatisfaction with the practice range and rental equipment.

Good course in Lubbock. Well designed and challenging. Great use of the land and landscape. Fun to play and staff is good. Only problem was that the greens had lots of ball marks. Not sure if it is members or maintenance.

Love this place! The course is what draws me. It’s a good challenge of golf and this day was in fantastic shape! Plus, tons of nice & friendly people making sure you have a great experience. Then, the food is on point. Whether you like Texas Tech or not, it’s a cool place to enjoy some golf and a meal. Personally, I love all the Tech stuff!

Group of 10 golfers this course adequately accommodated with ease, The checkin process was seamless, Staffers were on-it with golf cart movement that allowed us to photo-op with logo'd material. Staff Marshal George, Noland + 2 counter checkin personnel of Mgr + young lady (name forgotten) set the tone of a good day of golfing. Not to mention, the young Man grilling up the hot dogs & frequent visit of Refresher Carts. The grounds were maintained & scenery pleasant However, we lost balls!! Will recommend this establishment. Will be back to visit.

Although it has been several years since I visited The Rawls Course, I have to agree with recent reviews, especially Paul N. Would like to add that Tom Doaks was given the order to take the flat lands and try to emulate the Palo Duro Canyon in the design. A tough order, but he did a great job. As I recall, the first par 3 is fantastic. Recreating an uplift of the land, which most folks don’t realize is not a natural feature, but created in the design. Just stunning! Not like any other course. But you have to stop and notice!

Tom Doak designed, public access gem that is reasonably priced. Pin placement matters all the way back to the tee. Like most of Doak's work, the short par fours are the most interesting holes. Finishing with two par fives is a nice touch to make or break a round. The only knock on the course is the par threes don't offer much variety and are fairly unremarkable. As mentioned, pitch marks on the greens are pretty bad. Our group must have repaired twenty per hole while everyone putted out. Outside of that, no complaints and would drive an hour out of the way to play this course again.

Highly recommended! Best golfing experience I’ve had since I decided to dive in to this sport. Going on 5 months. Now I know what all buzz is about!

Great course, food, drink and honest and courteous staff! How can Brooke Barber and Preston (whatever) give this course 1 star and didn't review anything but their problem emptying the cart out before leaving the facility and then blaming their problems on student workers. I have lost more range finders than most and have never blamed it on anyone but myself. It could have bounced out of the cart anywhere on the course and anyone could have picked it up but you both blame student workers. Take responsibility for your mistake and don't give 1 star to the course, give it to yourself, and then re…

First time playing here...staff was friendly and accommodating. I know is Texas..but it was Windy AF. Making some of those holes specially in the back 9 even longer. Greens look like they were fuzzy but they were rolling fast. There is a lot of undulating greens angles into the green is important Deep bunkers but nice sand that you can get out nicely. Visually looks like is thight but there is plenty of room. Par 3 are not for the faint of heart. It requires your attention..specially 10th and 16th. Great finishing at 18th over water if you get a good drive you can take on the small Lake to get…

Great design, beautiful rolling hills, BRUTAL rough that's easy to lose your ball in, but the greens, tee boxes and fairways were pristine. Practice facilities and staff also awesome. Excited to come back

Fantastic course layout. Challenging link style. Beautiful big greens that are undulating.. tough to read. Bunkers were in rough shape mainly because of all the rain deluge past few days. Great staff. Clubhouse food was great.

Course was in great condition and challenging, but fun.

Great overall course, but today was “cart path only.” I’d highly recommend evaluating whether you’re up for that before booking. It’s a wide, long course, so you’ll end up carrying multiple clubs each shot and guessing yardage. Add in your cart partner’s process, and it turns into a slow, less enjoyable round—especially at a $100 green fee with taxes. Not worth it for a high handicapper like me. 🤪
