In summary

Sugar Isle Golf Country is often praised for its improved course conditions, interesting layout, and friendly staff, making it a popular choice for both beginners and seasoned players. The addition of new amenities like simulators and a bar has been well-received. However, some visitors have noted issues such as slow pace of play, outdated facilities, and occasional unfriendly service, which can detract from the overall experience.

Today this course rates as a 3. I debated whether to bump to 4 because the sand traps were all in good shape. This is not common for the public golf courses I play in the Dayton area. Most greens didn't have weeds and the grass was all one color making for a nice presentation. The ball rolled pretty straight. If they were faster the rating would have been 4. But the weren't quite a medium speed. The last time I played this course was 8 to 10 years ago and the fairways were all weeds. It was much better than I remember but they aren't good yet. I liked the layout and water hazards and there i…

Sugar Isle Golf Course is truly a pleasure to play. From the moment you arrive, the friendly staff makes you feel right at home. I was so impressed with the course's condition—the greens are fantastic and roll true, and the fairways are lush and well-maintained. The layout, designed by Jack Kidwell, is both beautiful and strategic, with just enough water hazards and bunkers to keep you on your toes without feeling impossible. It's a challenging yet forgiving course that's perfect for a wide range of skill levels. The value for the money is unbeatable, and the overall experience is top-notch. S…

Played today and was hugely disappointed. The greens and sand traps were the only bright spot of the whole day. There were no rangers to be found all day to monitor the pace of play. It took us over 5 hrs to play 18 holes and to wait on every shot because for 90% of the day there were at least 4 groups on every hole. The tee boxes and fairways were basically like hitting off concrete with little to no grass anywhere.

This is a great place to play , 38 bucks is all it costs for 18 with cart. Nice course with just a couple greens with damage and the club house is a bit beat up lol can't beat it for the price

2nd round in 2025 Fairways / Greens in excellent shape. However, rough was so long & deep that it was easier to lose a ball than to hit out of the ankle deep grass. That’s if it didn’t land in a clump of grass clippings. Sand traps were more like a thin layer of concrete. Cart paths are crumbling & carts need upgraded. You can tell that the employees do really care. And you can overlook the shape of the carts/paths. But a rough being this ridiculously long makes it unenjoyable for a mid-level course.

What an INCREDIBLE turn around! This is my hometown course and a few years ago it was in bad shape, but management changes have fixed everything!! Chris has fixed the quality of the course and the service. They have added a simulator inside as well. I’m beyond proud of the changes made by leadership and bought a membership this season. This is the best course in north Dayton!! Challenging but fun. Can’t beat the Isle!!

Played this course growing up and it's sad to see how dilapidated the facilities have become. Went for a party over the weekend and the restroom was absolutely atrocious. Fairly certain that's black mold forming on the wall and even from outside you could smell the high concentration of urine that probably wasn't cleaned up from the few years before. Wow.

So went there today and I'm so glad to see them finally spending the money on it . Brand new simulators and a bar now and updated club house really helps . And so far the fairways and greens look 10 times better . It's clear to see they are actually trying now !! Newer golf carts and course signs and no putting geeens with bare spots. Staff is always super nice and easy to deal with !!

Been to about 8 courses this year and only 1 other place has charged me for my significant other to ride along. The guy at front desk was smart about it. When you bring your significant other or a kid or someone not playing there shouldn't be a charge since I'm already taking that one cart and they are causing 0 damage to the course. The starter was very nice and exchanged golf balls with me to try, he is the only reason I boosted stars. The course is in pretty good shape, the greens are tough, but fun. Just don't talk to the front desk guy.

Hidden Gem! place is very nice and also affordable. People working in the clubhouse were super nice to us. Also, the greens at this place are unique, most of them have levels, and are more challenging than most places. Also, this isn't your typical Ohio course where the entire course is on one plane, there is a good amount of elevation changes. Overall great day! I will be back!

This was a nice course outside of a small town. Carts were a little older and slower but could definitely do their job for a round of golf. Would visit, again.
