In summary

Shepard Hills Golf Club is praised for its well-maintained, historic 9-hole course that offers challenging play with beautiful mountain views. The staff is frequently described as friendly and accommodating, enhancing the overall experience. While the food at the clubhouse receives high marks, some visitors note that the cleanliness and culinary execution could be improved, and a few mention the course conditions may vary with the season.

I played twice here over a wedding weekend. For each round I only had time to play nine and I walked once and rode the other. I got a warning about walking the course and it was a challenging walk. Mainly the 1st and 7th holes are pretty much straight up. Only walk it you want a serious cardio experience. The amount of uphill slope also makes these holes very challenging. I found the course to be in excellent shape and loved the condition of the greens - playing firm and true, but relatively friendly. Most of the holes are pretty straight forward except for 2 and 3, which you should take note…

A group of friends and I played 9 holes at Sheppard Hills this past weekend and it was fantastic. The view of the mountains while driving off of the second tee box can’t be beat. If you’re looking for a course in the area to play on, this is your sign to call them and book a tee time.

Great course! Even better people! My experience at Shephard hills was truly incredible! When coming in for a tee time for 10 people the staff only met us with warm welcomes and plenty of smiles. Multiple staff members took the time to give us great course information and directions. At the end of our round our group was greeted again at the club house and the staff was so thankful for our visit. An amazing time with amazing people! You should seriously take the time to go play this course!

Staff was nice. Venue is lovely. Cleanliness was slightly lacking but nothing to cause hygiene concerns. Lunch menu is low-cost and basic, but the view outdoors makes the cost worth it - otherwise stay home and save the money. It was not anything you could not literally have at home. Dinner menu has some higher-end flavors at lower cost than would typically be expected. Culinary execution leaves room for improvement in technique, but you get what you pay for and it's still a bargain with good flavors.

Fun course, even better staff. Accommodated our 10-person outing with no problem. Keep an eye out for the fish the local kids pull out of the pond behind the clubhouse as added entertainment!

Shephard Hills is a historic turn of the century estate golf course. Built by Helen Gould Shepard (daughter of Jay Gould) and Finley Shepard - her husband. The course is a challenging 9-hole estate course nestled on the side of a mountain. Now open to the public, the various holes provide wonderful vistas of the local mountains and many unique planting which were made over 100 hears ago..

Lovely 9 hole course nestled in the Adirondacks. Each hole offers some form of vertical challenge. Well kept course. Seasonal restaurant on site.
