A beautiful course on a beautiful day... too bad my game wasn't beautiful! That said, I had 2 great playing partners and a good time. I thought the greens were fairly fast following a good rain. Much of the course is like playing on a carpet! So thick and lush. Kudos to the greens keeping crew! Friendly staff, reasonable prices, what else can you ask for?

If I could give it zero stars I would. The course is in horrible shape compared to any other course I played. The best part of the place is the bar where the staff was excellent. The pro-shop person could not have been any ruder. When you pay $85 for a senior round and get horrible service, poor course conditions and a place that needs a lot of maintenance, I would not recommend this place at all. Pass.

Aside from the fact that the greens were in good shape, this place is a dog track. $85 for a Saturday round was preposterous. To top it off was the less than friendly person I had the displeasure of having to deal with at check in. Will never play here again!

Shennecossett is the best! The course was firm, fast and played as it was designed to play. One of the best public courses in the state, especially for the price. Overall great place to play and excellent staff. You can never go wrong with a round here.

Love this course. Links style golf always has it's challenges, you'll use all the clubs in your bag. Target golf.

Busy busy day before rain forecast so we couldn’t finish our 18 but we did drive the cart the unfinished last 7 holes. #16 view is a beautiful water view so don’t miss it. Tee box and greens can be close so mind the group behind you. Lots of bunkers in the fairways keep it challenging.

I play here for convenience but it's the last time I pull into this course. Like many others in the area I work a 9-5 and in the spring you can get 9 in before dark! The course has a 6pm close time advertised but if you're planning on making it close to 5:30 don't even try because their pro-shop attendant "must have left early" and "under no circumstance" can you play because the guy at the pro-shop left and you can't be charged at the bar or open up the drawer during their OPEN hours... This has happened multiple times and have encountered different rude rangers with similar explanations bu…

I absolutely love the layout. The greens are excellent for a course that gets so much play. They are firm but will hold a proper shot; they are also accessible by pitch-and-run shots. The restaurant is also excellent. My only gripe in that the bunkers are sub standard, with little sand--more like dust-- and rock hard underneath.I It's open all year and the season passes, even for non-residents, are a good value. The personnel is great. PS I'm THRILLED to report that the bunkers have been completely upgraded--much more good sand and the borders have been re-defined and sodded!!!

I played there last Friday and had a great time. First, the weather couldn't have been better; especially for November. The bunkers and greens were in great shape. The fairways were in okay shape, but after the drought this summer, I would say they did a good job maintaining them . Overall, I had a great time and would recommend the course.

Donald Ross is allowed to make mistakes. This is one. Prepare to hear “fore” in your dreams for the next week. This course is too short for its own good, the staff is old and grumpy, but the drinks are cheap. The back 9 barely sees the water yet it’s said to be wildly scenic. I don’t hate the course but don’t expect a top tier course by any means. Just another muni

Great layout with a lot of difficult holes. Some greens are close to the next tee so "fore" echoes the course. Absolutely impeccable greens for a packed tee sheet! Holes 16-17 are close to the water with great views of the river. Absolutely a great course and worth playing over and over again!
