In summary

Royal American Golf Links receives praise for its friendly and helpful staff, particularly the event coordinator, Lisa, who is noted for her professionalism and efficiency. The venue is appreciated for its attractive event space and catering services, making it a popular choice for weddings. However, the golf course itself has faced significant criticism for its poor condition, including unkempt greens, overgrown bunkers, and inadequate maintenance, which some feel detracts from the overall experience. Efforts to improve the course are acknowledged, but there is still room for improvement in several areas.

We held a wedding here. The place isn't actually a 5 star place; we don't have the money for an actual 5 star facility, but we had an absolutely wonderful wedding here. This is a great place an affordable wedding with fewer than one hundred guests. The downsides: Parking isn't great. It's a little crowded due to the golfers. The facility is kind of old and rough around the edges. It's in an out of way location. The locker rooms for the wedding party to get ready in are downstairs and not convenient to the main event space. If someone in the party has mobility issues, then this is going to be…

Signed up for men’s league this year. Putting greens are so bad you are allowed to move the ball to keep from putting through the surface of the moon. Bunkers are free drop - overgrown. And rough hasn’t been mowed - full of dandelions- so thick and uneven. Horrible. This course used to be so nice too. Pics show the practice putting green and the weeds in the rough and how long it is. *** UPDATE *** After discussions with Scott and team…. I am pleased that they are actively working to correct the issues at the course. I’ll check back in and see how things progress as I really love this course.…

I had high hopes for the course in 2025 after reading the countless responses from the course owner on other poor reviews saying they were working over the winter to fix the course and have apparently installed a new irrigation system? Doesn't look like it. I know it's still fairly early in the season, but I've played a few other courses in the past week and they aren't anywhere near the horrible condition of this place. The driving range is closed and looks overgrown. The practice green....wait, there isn't one, it's also overgrown and hasn't been mowed even. The greens on the course remain d…

The course needs some TLC. A couple of greens were rough, but the course was in decent shape. We actually got out on the course early. The pace of play was reasonable. The staff were pleasant. Overall, it was a positive experience and I would recommend Royal American for a round or two.

I'm not a golfer but I went once 15 years ago and once last weekend. My husband has been many times in the last 20 years. It was so sad to see how much the place has deteriorated. There was trash in various places on the course. There were lots of weeds. The fairways and greens had dirt patches instead of grass in countless places. Several sand bunkers had plants growing in them. The restroom had a lock ripped off from one of the stalls and another stall had a strange yellow liquid leaking from the ceiling into a bucket. The restroom was covered in toilet paper and had some trash on the floor…

Early season 4 person golf scramble, $80 a person. Course in terrible condition, tee boxes uncut, greens aerated recently and I assume the club allowed public play far too long with a scramble starting which caused horrendously slow play. 1:00 shotgun start, my team decided to leave at 5:30 pm with 5 holes to play. Food options were dismal and no real management onsite to keep things on track. Looks like a money grab for this place, hope it was worth it. This group will never return, too many other options in the Columbus area. Don’t waste your time.

Columbus Collective is ruining public golf. Every single course has raised their rates an incredible amount compared to other areas of Ohio and there has been no improvement in quality, if anything a decrease. Royal American is the prime example of that. Range/tee boxes are destroyed and very few parts of the course are in even decent condition. Dried out and cracked fairways. Bunkers are unplayable. Putts go five different directions from how chewed up and spotty the greens are. Go get your money's worth at a non-CC course. Solid transfusion at the turn though.

ROBBED IN THE CLUBHOUSE - I walked into the clubhouse and was robbed at walletpoint! I was charged $55 for a round of golf at what I assumed was a golf course. Little did I know what I was in for. I don’t think there is a ground crew in this course. If there is, they need to learn what water and grass seed is. There’s a better chance of me playing Augusta National than me playing here again. Don’t bother with this place. Put your $55 toward literally anything else

This was the worst course I have ever played in my life. You would think driving up with how nice the clubhouse is that you’re playing at Augusta National. Quite honestly, it’s the complete opposite. The fairways are like you’re playing in the rough at oakmont. It’s laughable. After my front 9 I walked into the club house. First off, a hot dog is $5. Are we serious? You’re going to make me pay $53 for this pathetic course, then try to overcharge me for a hot dog???? I then went to the pro shop to ask if the back 9 is any nicer. They said no and that their irrigation system was broke for 3 week…

The course was in rough shape, but the people were great, and we had a fun round.

Played Royal last Friday and this Wednesday. The course has made a dramatic difference than what it was back in April. The crew is hard at work bringing it back. It's the best it has been in a few years. There are about 3 greens that still have some more work to be done and the bunkers desperately need sand. But overall it is looking good, fairways and tee boxes look very nice as well as the majority of greens. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Zach, Lisa, Kevin, Pete, Greg and Charlie all make you feel they truly care about course and want their customers to feel good about playing R…

Lisa is a wonderful event coordinator. She is swift with responses and patient. She answered all of my questions and then some. We will definitely be choosing this venue for our wedding! This establishment has the best prices and customer service.
