In summary

Rainbow Golf Club, also known as Island Green, is frequently praised for its friendly and accommodating staff, with particular commendation for the exceptional BBQ at Lil' Piece BBQ and the clean, updated accommodations. The course is appreciated for its challenging layout and beautiful setting near the Catskills, although some visitors note issues with course maintenance, such as rough fairways and outdated golf carts. While the dining experience is often highlighted positively, there are mixed reviews regarding the condition of the facilities and organization of the course layout.

It was a great golf outing, great service, Kevin always goes above and beyond. Doug in the pro shop made everything super easy for the outing and very helpful. We got there and the rooms were ready and very clean. The chefs Mike and drew take pride into the food. Nothing else like it. Especially the pulled pork. I always looked forward to the next meal because the food was just that good. And the sauces are all home made. The bar staff Richard, Morgan, barb gave friendly service the entire weekend. The golf course was in great shape for how early into the season it is. I would 100% recommend I…

This is our 4th year going to Island Green. Our group grows every year after we come home raving about the experience. It checks all the boxes: clean accomodations, great golf, excellent BBQ and welcoming staff. We'll be coming back with an even bigger group next year. Can't thank Kevin, Doug, Mike, Barbara enough for hosting us each year!! Thank you

So for those of you planning a wedding nearby… we had the most horrific experience here. Wedding across the street and with few places to stay in the area we rented out the Island Green for family guests. I had visited the place prior to the wedding to meet with the owner and check things out. He showed me a couple of rooms. I did not go deep into the rooms but peeked in ( except for the clubhouse “suites” which only had an outdoor entrance and it was necessary to walk through one bedroom to get to the next. There were 4 double beds in each rooms and each had one bath.) Clear this establishmen…

Great place to stay and play a full course of golf. The Lil' Piece BBQ has amazing food and the staff are more than accommodating and friendly. Bar is stocked for all your drinking needs as well.

Our Island Green visit was an adventure. Agreed - the course is in rough shape. Tee-box chaos, cart path confusion, weedy fairways and poor signage. However, the greens were in good shape and, oddly, there are no sand traps (which is OK by me). A needed item would be to provide players with an overview of the course layout with numbered holes (Google Earth/Google Maps?) The building exteriors need facelifts which they are working on. Happily, our room interiors were updated and clean. The dining room was dated, but the sliders (pork, brisket or chicken) and burgers were great and reasonably pr…

Nice little hidden golf course tucked in near the Catskills. Golf carts are old and outdated but they care about the course. In a summer with no rain the greens were watered well and soft.

WOW! The truly incredible BBQ at Island Green's "Lil' Piece BBQ and Catering" makes this our new GO TO spot for really good BBQ and so much more. There is nothing more enjoyable than a round of golf, followed by a cold refreshing beverage and absolutely AMAZING food. We highly recommend the wings, brisket, and pulled pork platter! My mouth is watering as I write this! Sure to please!

Best pro shop staff around. Kevin, Doug and Brian are incredible warm and welcoming and Sella is a total gem. I’m a first time member here and am always accommodated with a smile. Haven’t tried the food yet but will post a separate review from them (Lil Piece). I guess I don’t find the course confusing because I golfed here when it was Rainbow. 🌈 My only suggestion is that they move the pro shop desk so it’s facing the door. Would be nice to be greeted by a face when you walk in instead of cooling towels.

People super nice. Can tell they are working on improvements. Clubhouse and restrooms very clean and modern. Pricing competitive. Course was fun but could use some work. Need better directions to tees/greens on course. I think greens are great but that first cut was way too high. Never lost balls in first cut before. Just constructive suggestion- widen the fairway and cut down the first cut. Will be back.
