In summary

Newport Country Club is highly praised for its historic significance, stunning coastal setting, and exceptional golf course conditions, offering a challenging and memorable experience for players. The clubhouse is noted for its beautiful, old-school architecture, and the staff is generally regarded as friendly and accommodating. While the club is private and exclusive, some visitors express disappointment over limited access and assistance, and there are occasional concerns about mosquito protection at outdoor events.

Incredibly private and amazing course with superior conditions, designed more for walking. Great service and beautiful old school clubhouse. If you get a chance to play do it!

I've died and gone to golf heaven, I've been trying to get on this course since the early 80's, and never even coming close to stepping foot on the property. Newport Country Club, founded in 1893, is a historic private golf club in Rhode Island, that hosted both the first U.S. Amateur Championship and the first U.S. Open in 1895. Newport Country Club is one of the founding 5 members of the United States Golf Association and is one of the most historical courses in the United States. The grand old clubhouse built by Whitney Warren is what just stands out so much when you first arrive. What a…

I was fortunate enough to play this remarkable course in a CWGA team tournament against Rhode Island. The experience left me eagerly anticipating a return visit, especially to follow the players at the US Senior Open 2024 and walk the course again. One notable change during the tournament was that the normal #1 hole was played as #10. This added an interesting twist for those familiar with the course's usual layout. Attempting to revisit the clubhouse, I found it roped off for TV and corporate use, a stark contrast to the previous experience of having a lovely team dinner there. Though I cou…

Had the chance to join for the time I was at the Naval War College. Being from RI and knowing RI kids don't necessarily get to play there. I absolutely had to take advantage of the opportunity. Apply, interview with the club president, and told to go drop off my fee with the membership secretary at the business office. Then 13 months of pure joy less the 3 months of a bad winter. One hole, the 14th, par 3 says it all. Hitting 205 from the tips next to the back veranda of the clubhouse looking toward the ocean to a green overhanging on the side of a hill. Played it with everything from driver-t…

Newport Country Club is home to one of the top-rated and finest championship golf courses in New England. The excellent open, links-style layout contains a wealth of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging holes. Definitely a course that will challenge your all-round game. However, this is a private course generally playable only by members and their guests.

Was here for a rehearsal dinner before a wedding. A lot smaller than I was expecting it to be. I'm not sure if the food that was served was from the on-site kitchen or an outside vendor but it was good. I would like to play golf here in the future, the course looks really nice. Only negative is that they offer no protection for mosquitos, my wife's legs got torn to shreds while there. I was told Those Island law requires businesses that have outdoor venues to provide some sort of mosquito repellent, I have no researched to see if this is true but if it is then shame on them.
