What People Say

In summary

New River Country Club is frequently praised for its beautiful mountain setting, well-maintained greens, and affordable pricing, making it a favorite among many golfers. The course layout offers a mix of open and challenging holes, particularly on the back nine, which some find tight and demanding. While the staff receives high marks for friendliness and helpfulness, a few visitors have noted issues with cart fees and occasional maintenance lapses.

First mountain course I’ve played and it was a lot of fun. Staff was very accommodating. Course was nice and greens rolled very pure. The front 9 is very open, nice layout. Back 9 there are a lot of dog legs and tight. Almost like they just tried to fit in the back 9 in too small of a space. Loved the course though.

Great golf course. Very relaxed, not overly challenging but enough to make you think about your next shot.

Awesome track layout, it's definitely a low budget golf course. However the greens are really smooth, running about an 8 on the stint meter so not super fast but smooth rolling. Fairways and rough are cut quite short, it's an armature friendly track for the most part, back side is a bit tight off the tee. Would go back anyday for the price and quality.

Nice golf course that I enjoy every time I play there. Good bunch of guys running the shop. Best thing about New River is it's cheap to play. I don't think the price reflects how nice the course is. Love the scenery and atmosphere. My favorite course in the mountains

Course was very challenging and difficult. Greens were slow and I'd say probably toughest to read I've played. Greens were maybe 3.5 stars but the rest of course was worth the 5 star review. Would Def be back.

Nice little course for the money. Nothing fancy bit the greens were emaculate. This course has better greens than some of the more expensive courses I've played. On the front 9 forget about the cart path. Doesn't really have one. Coirse does habe some layup holes. The staff was friendly. The other golfers were friendly and let you pass. I recommend this course. I made a divot on every green I hit. Thr greens were normal as fas as pace. Not the nicest course but good course.

Good people, nice course, reasonably priced. Unlike Marion, they don't price people away. Times are hard

Terrible experience, grass isn't cut, lost a few balls in the middle of the fairway because the grass was too tall, also slid my cart because the tires were bald, not kept up with, prices are outrageous, I've played at better courses for a lot less

Great course for the money. Carts are new and the course is good shape, rates are very reasonable.
