In summary

Magellan Golf Course is frequently praised for its beautiful layout, well-maintained Bermuda greens, and friendly, welcoming staff. The course offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience suitable for players of all levels, with notable practice facilities. However, some visitors have mentioned issues with cart cleanliness, occasional slow pace of play, and the need for better sand trap maintenance. Additionally, the course can be difficult to navigate due to its hilly terrain and is best avoided after heavy rain.

Great design and built for all player levels. Friendly and helpful staff at the pro shop reception. Only minus was the green quality and that hole positions was not changed on regular basis. Happy to play here and hope to come back.

Great golf course! Although GPS guides you to the Ponce de Leon entrance, the public entrance is 3.2 miles East of it. Park across the street from the entrance and gather a golf cart. No one tends to the golf carts, so it's self serve. Bring a towel to wipe down the cart because ours was riddled with webs and spiders everywhere. Check in at the club house. We met some very nice attendants. The course is beautiful, the greens are superb. Some greens were fast. Shooting uphill can be a little deceiving, so you'll probably need to club up. Ladies tees are not red like on some courses so I alterna…

Magellan was in excellent condition for this time of year, we have had lots of rain and the course was very playable. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming.

It is a short course from the regular men's tees or the senior tees The greens are Bermuda and three grain effects a lot of putts. Good risk reward opportunities. Hit fairways and green and you can score well. Spray the ball and big numbers will result.

The rudest lady named “k” works here. Took my friends to this golf course for their visit here to Hot Springs for the first time on this course. The rudest worker “k” had the nerve to say we are the “worse golfers ever” and had the audacity to rush us along all though we were allowing others to go ahead of us because we knew we were “slower” than others. I will not bring my friends back when they visit hot springs. We will to to Essex range instead.

Beautiful course, great pro shop and employees. My wife and I are in our 70's and were on vacation from Oklahoma to one of the local RV resorts. We decided to try a little golf and selected a couple of The Villages courses to play. It has been raining lately but we caught a break on a very hot day to play. Little did we know that the course was soaked and it was cart path only. Wow, this course is built in the mountains and is up and down with steep slopes from the cart path to the fairway, plus the temps were in the low 90's. We were exhausted to say the least. I wouldn't recommend this cours…

A ‘short’ course, but by no means easy (very hilly). Requires course management, shot placement, but fairways are wide. Greens tend to be fast, undulating. Sand traps usually need work, most often requiring ball removal & placing out of the trap.

Really fun and straight forward course. Friendly people in the pro shop that make you feel welcome. Played in the rain, I should have traveled with a bag cover but would have assumed the carts have rain covers for bags. Just a heads up for other travelers. The course is also imaged in the winter on all GPS trackers so the course is covered in snow on the images making it difficult to see hazards and distances. Definitely recommend!

This course is really a lot of fun to play! Right now the greens are rolling good and are in good condition. This course was initially developed as a practice facility, but was transitioned to full play quite some time ago. You get to give most of your clubs a work out! Challenging, but enjoyable for players from novice up.

Not the longest of the courses at the Village, but definitely a challenge. Nice Champion Bermuda greens, and nicely maintained fairways. Best practice facility at the Village.
