What People Say

In summary

MacDonald Golf Course is appreciated for its challenging layout, mature trees, and overall value, especially considering its city course status. Many visitors commend the greens and acknowledge improvements in the fairways and facilities. However, critiques often focus on slow pace of play, inconsistent staff interactions, and maintenance issues with bunkers and fairways.

This course is improving but there are still a lot of problems . The worst of those are the bunkers which have almost no sand. The greens are in good shape but even after aeration and top dressing have a lot of damage already. Fairways are improving but still below what anyone would expect.

Place sucks, I left my ranger finder on the cart and drove my cart to cart return and gave my keys to the staff and watched them pull the cart in. Called them back about an hour later when I realized I forgot my range finder, told me they never found it or got turned in.

Had a great round of golf. Course is really good overall considering it’s Jan. The speed of play is the only issue with Wichita public courses. I don’t know if they need some better pacers or less people playing but 5 hours is a little crazy. For 18 holes. Overall had a great time.

Better than it was 2 years ago. Tee time are still close together making waiting at holes frustrating

Way to much money for probably the worst greens I've ever been on. Golf carts are nice and club house is clean. The courses are very rough. The ball cleaners and stagnant black water in them and the nastiest smell I've ever smelled for stagnant ball cleaner. We won't be back that's for sure. Drove an hour in half just to golf here and it's not good.

Not a very public or friendly course…. lady at the front desk seemed to not want to be there and was kind of rude. Driving range doesn’t even open until noon for some reason and it’s only open for 3 hours on Mondays. On the flip side the course is fun to play if they aren’t over booked, and upkeep is sub par.

This is a great beginning to intermediate golf course! It usually isn’t very busy so getting a decent tee time isn’t to difficult. It has a nice mix of Par 3-5 holes with only a few water hazards. Several straight or near straight fairways. Practice range and putting green available. Very reasonable green fees and cart rentals. Located 1 block east of Wesley Hospital between Murdock and 13th St. Takes about 4hrs to walk through all 18 holes.

Lady at front desk was extremely rude and was cussing at us because we asked to have 4 people in a group instead of 3. There was no one behind us so we just put 2 people on the tee time behind us after 15 minutes of arguing which cause us to miss our tee time by a couple minutes. Then the grounds keeper who rides around on his golf cart lied to us telling us we didn’t pay and we “snuck onto the course” when everyone paid and we were already on hole 3. He called us “problems.” Seems like they hate their jobs and take it out on the people who keep them in business. Extremely rude staff and tried…

The bones of the course are very good. To me it's the most challenging of the city courses. I do wish the fairways were in better shape, but I think that they are making progress. The city came in and fixed a lot of the problems with the ponds and when there is rain the water hazzards are pretty nice. I have found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.
