In summary

The LSU Golf Course receives mixed reviews, with some visitors appreciating the friendly staff, affordable rates, and interesting course layout. However, many criticize the course's poor maintenance, citing issues with greens, fairways, and overall conditions. There are also concerns about management and customer service, which some feel detracts from the overall experience.

Course is in terrible shape, however that's not the worst part. Certain staff members are incredibly rude. I will never play again at the course due to that. Turned on sprinklers on 18 green well before the closing time. Proceed to kick us off of the course as we are about to hit our approach shots on 18. Claiming we cannot finish due to the sprinklers being on. Would have been more than willing to get soaked to finish the decent round I had. Would have finished the full 18 in well under 3 and a half hours. Was kicked off around 6:20. Carts are required to be in by 6:30 and we would have had m…

This course is an absolute disaster and complete embarrassment, both as a graduate of the university and as a taxpayer of Louisiana. I played here 15 years ago and it was nice back then. Today, the fairways are cut about four inches tall so balls get lost in the fairway. Ponds and ditches are FULL of beer cans and empty vodka bottles. Half the tee boxes are missing the tee markers and every single green is full of weeds and some greens even have flowers actively growing on them. The sand traps are dirtier than the Grand Isle beaches, and probably have more diseases growing in them! I read the…

Absolutely horrendous course conditions. Unplayable at some spots. Ant mounds all over the greens and the tee boxes and fairways might as well be considered the rough. The picture with the ball in this review is from a tee box. Embarassing as an alumnus.

Absolutely SAD! CHECK PICTURES. The course is in the worst shape. I played LSU for the first time in a few years, and Lord it is terrible. They are bailing hay on the course. The greens have dead grass and weeds all over them. The sand bunkers are a disgrace lol. Whoever the course manager is, they should be ashamed. This course used to be amazing compared to what it is now.

This course is in an abysmal condition. The greens, if there any, are in are in terrible condition so much that it’s like putting on 80s shag carpet The golf carts need to be updated quickly. It’s disappointing when you have a top five baseball and football stadium in the US within view of the course, yet this is the best LSU can do. There needs to be a change of management or a reallocation of funding for this course to have any sort of future.

When you know your greens are in deplorable condition, maybe you should warn people via your website so they don't waste their time and money for a substandard experience. BREC's greens around the parish have mostly been on point even in the dead of winter.

You couldn’t pay me 500 dollars to play here. You may as well light this whole course on fire because the grass is so long you couldn’t find your ball if it landed on the green. Please, please do not waste your money. If you do please lie about being a student and get the discount at least. Horribly horribly disappointing.

Trash course. Expexpensive for an unkept course. They may as well level it out and put parking lots. Range balls are like hitting stones.

This is the worst golf course I have ever played. The greens were terrible. Machinery just sitting right off the tee box. Some of the signs just stuck in ground with tree branches. My golf cart limped in the last hole. It's so bad it was funny.

This course is in the best shape it’s ever been in! Couldn’t be better! Staff was super friendly, a real paradise on the Bayou. Geaux Tigers.

Played dispite all the bad reviews, here are my pros and cons: PROS: traveling for out of town playing the LSU Golf course was exciting, super cheap to play, not busy, friendly staff, next gen of golfer via LSU Golf program, locker room with showers Cons: Negitive reviews are well earned. Back 9 was good though. Very hard to find balls, even near the green due to tall lie on every hole. Tee box markers are low profile and hard to find due to tall lie on tee box Could be a good course if more investment was put into upkeep. I hope the college or a booster looks to invest in this course.

7/31/24. Course is in horrible shape. The greens are half grass, half sand. Putts dribble like basketballs. The tee boxes are as long as the rough, and half the tee markers are missing. Signage for the holes are a joke. Didn't even get a scorecard to know what was coming up. Was my first and last trip to this course.
