In summary

Hickory Bend Golf Course is appreciated for its affordable rates and charming layout, making it a suitable choice for beginners and those seeking a casual round. The course features some unique challenges, such as small greens and dogleg holes, and is generally considered a good value for the money. However, there are frequent complaints about the condition of the fairways and greens, as well as inconsistent customer service, with some visitors reporting negative interactions with staff.

A nice golf course. It's nothing fancy if you're expecting country club style. Very reasonable rates and is in good condition. For me it's perfect just to get out to hit the ball.

The parking lot gravel was inviting allowing for all 9 hole golfers to be well spaced. The front office staff was mother-in law friendly. The fairway is divided into the "fairgrass", the mow 2/season section, and crop dust only region. The greens are kept in fairway condition. Though to be fair, the postage stamp sloped greens need the extra grass to have any chance. The fountain on the water hole provides for a nice green setting. The broken dog leg holes of 90 degrees add a unique difficulty to the course. Overall, bring plenty of balls, consider hiking boots and check for ticks.

The front lady was very mean to me and my brother I am 20 and very serious about golf and he is getting into it! And she was super judgy and prices are outrageous for the course being so bad! If u are in the fairway u are hitting in the rough and if ur on the green ur putting through divots and messed up greens!

What the course lacks in conditions, it makes up with charm. Greens are extremely slow and fairways and tees could be in better shape, but there are some really fun holes out there. Nan was super friendly to me and I really enjoyed my walk. For beginners, this is a great place to learn the game. For better players, it’s an opportunity to get back to the roots of the game, walk 9 and just enjoy the round. It’s a pretty short course so rounds go quick, too. I look forward to going out again.

For conditions - they are not "high quality" but realistically there is literally nowhere around that you get better value for money. For me, as a beginner, this is a great course that you can get some fantastic real game practice which is truly unheard of. Also for anyone complaining about the attitude of employees - if you show respect you will get respect. I've always been welcomed with a smile and a witty sarcastic joke which I appreciate. This place will always have my business.

Woman was very rude. She got mad at us for not having ride in time. The fairway is more like the rough and the greens are slower than my grandma. Also, it is way too overpriced for a golf course like that. Finally, a Gatorade should not cost $4.

This is a nice 9 hole course that is pretty well maintained. This year has been a tough one with all the rain earlier in the summer and now no rain for quite some time. The people are always very friendly as well.

Played this course two days ago. The course is a great 9 holes. The course is beautiful with large old trees lining the fairways. The fairways were in great shape as were the tees even the red tees. The pace of play was good without us ever feeling rushed or having to wait. The staff was friendly. I am planning to play this course every week.

Tried to play today with my son and father, but was told by the curt and rather rude worker that THEY ONLY DO TEE TIMES on weekends now. I would have loved to set a time, but nobody answered my calls on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week when I wanted to double check I could still walk-up and play. Previously 5 stars, now all the way to 2 stars. Either get a site up where we can schedule tee times, have someone actually answer your phone, or allow walk-ups again. Otherwise, my previous review holds true : Great, beautiful course, great price. Easy to walk, very forgiving, but still challenging…

My mom was parked outside waiting on me and my nephew to get there and the lady inside the club house came out, knocked on the car window and asked why she were there like she was law enforcement. When I showed up, all I did was open the door and she aggressively told me to leave my clubs outside and that they have don’t belong inside.. look, me and the people I’m playing with are new to the game. Everyone has to start somewhere. Any expert an anything was at one point in time, a beginner. That lady was rude and made us uncomfortable. Horrible customer service. We will NEVER go back there.

I played the Hickory Bend. course in early June 2024. It is a 9 hole course that is great for the price. It is most likely a converted farmer’s field from years ago. Several greens are pretty small and located on mounds with some undulations. Hitting the greens and making putts can be tricky. The staff was friendly. The GC doesn’t take tee times during the week. Just walk up and play. It is a rural golf course like many that have surrounded Indy over the years and later gone away in favor of housing additions, back to farm fields, etc. (White Lick GC, Brownsburg GC, Hendricks County GC, etc.)…

It’s crazy to me that this place is still in business. You’d be lucky to see this place mowed more than biweekly and the customer service is the worst I’ve seen in any industry, let alone a golf course. I understand wanting to save $ and play a cheap course, but I assure you that the extra 15-20$ you have to pay at another golf course is well worth it. Never again will I be coming here.
