What People Say
In summary
Heartland Crossing Golf Links receives praise for its well-maintained greens, challenging layout, and friendly staff, with some visitors appreciating its value and proximity to the airport. However, there are recurring criticisms regarding the slow pace of play, inadequate bunker conditions, and lack of clear signage, which some feel detracts from the overall experience. Additionally, the surrounding residential development and occasional course management issues have been noted as areas needing improvement.

Booked a 12:09 tee time. Checked in, and informed by Worker A that we would be behind a 12:00 outing that had a shotgun start. He claimed we’d tee off by 12:10, it was closer to 12:20. Pace of play very slow for the first few holes, did not tee off on 4 until 1:30, for example. When we were on 7 Worker B drove by in a cart and asked if we wanted him to talk to the group in front of us, we said we knew it was an outing, mentioned the slow pace of play and inquired about a rain check for the back. He was incredibly understanding and said he’s told them to not book tee times right after outings,…

It had been years since I played here last, something like 10 years ago. I was a bit skeptical, since I had heard a lot of mixed reviews about the conditions. I went out there today and was very surprised how good the conditions were. Granted, it was a bit dry. It wasn't that big of a deal, since this is a links style course and we haven't had much rain lately. But the greens were in very good condition. The bunkers were raked and had plenty of sand. The only things bringing this course down a bit is it's location, and the relatively cheap housing being built near it. But in terms of overall c…

We were in town for business and we selected to play here due to proximity to the airport. Our decision was fully justified. We were met with really friendly hospitality and insights to the golf course and genuinely couldn’t have done more for us. The setup of the course was fair and challenging, especially with the wind! A great track that I thoroughly recommend.

I hadn't played here in a few years and it doesn't look like I'll play here for a few more years. A picture says a thousand words. I know I don't like putting through a beach and there were beaches on at least 8 of the greens. Who ever is the greenskeeper might need to take a few more classes on course management. Other courses in the area aren't seeing these problems so I must assume it's the staffs issues with maintaining the course. I'd stay away from this course until they figure it out. If I had paid more than $15 on golf now on a Saturday I would have felt ripped off.

Not an enjoyable experience. First time playing the course. Purchased range balls and staff member didn’t inform me of where anything was never gave me the token for the machine had to go back to pro shop to find out where things was located. Possibly you should have signs posted. Driving range ect. heck just tell players where #1 is. The course has a lot of bunkers, this makes no sense if your going to use crushed dirt and rocks instead of the traditional sand filled bunkers. The only reason i gave 2 stars is because the back 9 has a great layout other than that the course is extremely disapp…

Beautiful, well maintained course. Challenging but very playable. Greens run fast and pin placements definitely challenge your putting skills on every green. Pace of play was really good. We were able to tee off a few minutes past our tee time. We did wait initially on the first hole to play our fairway shots. After that things moved along without a problem. Great staff in the pro shop, especially Jeff. Super guy. Very knowledgeable. If you haven't played this course, check it out. No disappointments here.

Really interesting links style layout at a great value greens are nice enough. Friendly staff and quick pace of play. My only wish is the bunkers would be filled with some new sand as you’re basically playing off compacted dirt in them. Fix the bunkers and I’d be a regular.

I live on the course and golf here 3 times a month at least and I’m starting to question it. This year has been worse than the past few, and hopefully it’s accredited to still being April; my biggest complaint is the lack of etiquette and no reinforcement from ownership. No water on the course, no cart team driving around, no ranger checking pace. The past 4 rounds I’ve played have taken 4+ hours AS A SOLO. Foursomes taking 3+ shots on each tee box and slowing the entire pace. For $50 a round I expect a lot more. This year I’d say it’s worth maybe $20.

The links style is very nice and the pro shop attendant was cordial. That being said, the sheer amount of subdivisions prevent the course from ever truly feeling like a links course, and as others have mentioned, average conditions and no maps on the scorecard or at each hole. If you get caught behind a member or regular, they might just be the most arrogant and rude people at any course you can find and will refuse to let you through. Also I noticed towards the end they let people off on both 1 and 10 to start so good luck with pace of play if you aren’t one of the first ones out. Fine for a…

Yes, the course is in much better shape than it was 2 years ago but definitely not worth a 5 star rating (as some reviewers have rated it). The greens are in great shape but the fairways still have several dead spots. The far roughs are not links style roughs, where the grass should be tall and thin, enabling one to hit a shot. The far roughs are just thick weeds, making it not only impossible to hit a shot but usually not even possible to find your ball. The sand traps have sand in them but the edges are horribly rugged, not trimmed at all. The depth of these traps requires trimmed (and mowed…

Played here this morning, what a great course. Of the three courses I have played in the area this is the best. If yer a fan of links style courses with fast greens look no further. I played Hickory Stick last week Heartland Crossing has them beat. The greens are in better shape and their bunkers are raked. The staff I dealt with was great, I forget if it was the head pro or the GM that rang me up in the pro shop. He even gave me more of a discount on shoes that were on sale. I will be back, the chicken salad sandwich I picked up making the turn was great as well.

Course is in excellent shape. Always enjoyed playing here, difficult but not unmanageable for those of us who play a few mulligans a round. My issue, and it's not just this course, but most of them, is spraying the course while people are playing. I am allergic to something in pesticides and fertilizers. That's not stuff people should have soaking into their shoes or hands anyway. The course would have gotten 5 stars if it weren't for that. Go play it, it's worth the trip.
