In summary

E. Gaynor Brennan Golf Course is appreciated for its friendly staff, well-maintained greens, and a challenging yet engaging course layout that appeals to both beginners and seasoned golfers. The on-site restaurant receives positive feedback for its offerings, enhancing the overall experience. However, some visitors have reported issues with certain staff members' attitudes and noted areas of the course, such as fairways and cart paths, that could benefit from maintenance improvements. Additionally, there are concerns about the course's welcoming atmosphere, particularly for new and female golfers.

Wanted to have a good experience golfing here with other beginners in my group, but unfortunately it was not - it was very stressful and unpleasant, not how I wanted a sport of leisure to be. We were late because of significant traffic on the roads and they did hold the tee time for us which was nice but at the expense of then having their ranger berate us incessantly and then hover around our group and eventually kick us out of the golf course. I appreciate the refund so no harm no foul, but the attitude wasn’t necessary. And the reason given was that “all golf courses would be like that”.…

Nice public course, nice 19th Hole pub too. Greens are in excellent shape. On the fairways some bare spots with no seed or soil prep but overall good.

Underrated course. A real test that will surprise you. Staff here is amazing really nice people. The restaurant Zodys is also a great place to eat or drink after 18. A course not a lot of people know about but is always in great shape in the spring/summer. Only thing to complain about is I don’t get enough birdies greens aren’t as straight as they look. Pace of play is surprisingly fast here most of the time. Usually done in under 3:30 sometimes even 2:45 (gotta be a slow weekday for 2:45 to happen though)

I’m writing this extremely disappointed in my experience at E. Gaynor Brennan Golf Course in Stamford. As an employee of the city, this location was recommended to me by my male colleagues and friends. I must say this place is not welcoming to new golfers, especially women. My friend and I showed up with a t time and ready to play, even having our own clubs, we were immediately met with misogynistic comments and disrespect. The environment as a whole was extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming. To further this the course warden/ranger made multiple sexiest comments and then proceeded approach us…

Solid golf course. Nicely taken care of. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Prices are about on par for what you are getting. They have a nice bar/restaurant. The $3 hot dogs and cold beer after the front 9 always hit the spot.

I went on a rainy Monday and played with no wait. Course is in decent shape, staff is friendly, and the prices is reasonable. This is a no frills course in terms of locker rooms, and other amenities. There is a restaurant on the premises that I've heard good things about, but I didn't have a chance to check it out. I will definitely be back in the spring to play, if not sooner.

Nice municipal course near Stamford/Riverside. Honestly there are some negatives here, but on balance, there are a few positives as well. Negatives/Improvements: Fairways. Some of them are really not in great condition - bumps, strange lies etc. Cart Paths: Some need major improvement. e.g hole 11 cart path on the right abruptly dies away and there's a major bump right there - I've had a couple of riders hurt their back. I don't expect a super smooth surface, but these ones are too pothole ridden. Hole 10&11: These used to be the old 17&18. I get why they've made the change, but boy the cart…

My wife and I paid over $100 to play 9 holes with a golf cart and it was not worth the money. The course is not well maintained and very cramped. It was really common to see players from other holes go into your fairway to play their ball. Super Annoying. There are better courses for the money.

Very good public golf course. We've been playing here for many times. The staff is very nice except Paul! Be aware of him! Something very unpleasant happened when we played a 18-hole last week. We paid for 18-hole and cashier told me that we need to return the cart at 7:00 pm. Everything was fine, we enjoyed the game and good weather. But we met ranger Paul on the course. He saw our 18-hole sign on the cart and pushed us to return it at 6:45 pm. We said alright we will do it, although the time should be 7 pm. But since we normally play fast and should be no problem. Even if we couldn't finish…

The head pro Vance has an attitude as rough as the course. Calling him “rude” would be an insult to all the rude people out there. He doesn’t care about the course conditions, the pace of play, or the fact that his “golf course” is one mud puddle away from becoming Shreks swamp. His response to any of the above is “we’re a public course, our prices, pace, and condition are like all public courses; and then hel segway into recommending you consider joining a country club. Except the prices here are a joke when you factor in the overall experience in comparison to Sterling Farms; the other publ…
