In summary

Deer Creek State Park Golf Course is appreciated for its friendly staff, interesting layout, and well-maintained greens. However, many visitors express concerns about the overall course condition, citing issues such as dry or crabgrass-covered fairways, poorly maintained bunkers, and inconsistent maintenance. Some players also mention slow pace of play and occasional discrepancies with cart availability.

Oh my gosh I LOVE THE DRIVING RANGE! I wasn't even aware they had one actually. I also wasn't aware that their Clubhouse/Pro Shop is like a camp store with ice, hot dogs, Ice cream, drinks and more. I've camped at Deer Creek for 30 yrs and never knew this existed. Better late than never I guess lol. Good job reviving the driving range. It looks awesome!

The environment was friendly and the course has a nice club house. The carts were fantastic and even had a ball and cleaner attached. As far as the course goes, it would be an amazing course if it was maintained like one, it would be best to play this course in spring when the grass is fresh. The tee boxes were rock solid, all bunkers that weren’t in the fairway were rock solid, almost every green was covered in brown, dead grass, along with most fairways. Given the course did desperately need rain, the dry and hard tee boxes + greens was a let down. The layout of the course was great with cha…

Can’t believe this is considered a course. There was no starter, so absolutely no care in the world about pace of play. A group teed off during our tee time and we were trailing them all day, ended up playing for 5 hours. It happens, it’s fine. But the course conditions are laughable. It’s like they took a park and added greens to it. There is no fairway, no rough, no real anything besides some tee box markers in the ground and greens. I will say, the greens were well taken care of, but it’s because the rest of the course is literally crabgrass. Won’t be back.

Well maintained course with an interesting layout. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Played here several times and will be back.

Worst golf course I have played this year. The tee boxes and fairways are mostly crabgrass and weeds. The fairways and some greens have leaking water lines that caused very swampy ares. There are so many bunkers that have been abandoned and just left to grow over with weeds. The other bunkers don’t have hardly any sand in them. The only good thing was it was not crowed (wonder why) and we were able to play at our own pace.

It’s beautiful and challenging. I suppose the ODNR budget keeps it from being stellar. Meaning, they’ve had to abandon some fairway bunkers and it just looks almost great. Clubhouse, staff, practice green and golf carts are outstanding. I suspect it’s seen better days. But they are working within their allotted budget.

Generally poor to mediocre condition. Will book you a tee time with cart included then tell you "walking only" when you get there. Even when you see carts active on the course. Long drive to turn around and go right back home 5 minutes after you get there. Have done it a few times with this place. Literally latch ditch place to try and go.

Getting better than it was. Two years ago, it was awful. Now, starting to look like a golf course again. Still a far cry from what it was like growing up. Use to be such a beautiful coarse when the state ran it. Hopefully will get back to there. Could let the fairways grow a little bit. Would recommend.

Worst course played this year. Tee to green crab grass. Greens were ok but only about a 5 on the Stimp. Earliest time I could get was 11. Arrived at 10 and the place was deserted. Had to call the lodge to have someone come over.

Could be a better course if maintained properly. I've been a member here for 2 years and have seen improvement, but there's more to do. Laid back environment with friendly staff.
