In summary

Butternut Creek Golf Course is praised for its welcoming environment, making it ideal for beginners and families, and its well-maintained par 3, 9-hole course. The driving range is noted for its convenience and quality, although some find it pricey. However, recurring criticisms include maintenance issues such as goose droppings on the greens, slow pace of play, and the condition of the grass tees.

First time coming here we arrived at 8:10 am on a Sunday . No one was here to get us a cart but it says they open at 8 am . We got a bucket of balls from the guy cutting the grass a large bucket that was full of dirty golf balls …. We wait until 8:40 to get a cart when someone arrives . The course is solid but needs a good amount of maintenance, Decent course though . 3 out of 5 stars .

Great golf Course. Great service. Best Driving range in Syracuse! Awesome non profit golf course which helps grow the game of golf. While giving back to community. Also the golf simulator is world class and the same use by alot of the best players in the world. Par -3.... 9 hole course. Definitely would recommend to any golfer of any age or skill set!

I cant say enough good things about this place. Took my wife here for her first time ever playing golf and she loved it. Can't wait to bring my son here. I hit every iron in my bag here and it was great practice for the par 3s.

EDIT: Butternut driving range isn't the same as it used to be. $11 for a small bucket that barely gives you 30 balls is a rip off. You can't buy a large bucket anymore because the owner doesn't want people to take too many divots on the grass range (Which is the entire point of a grass range). Do yourself a favor and go to a range anywhere else but Butternut Creek Best grass tee driving range in the area. A little on the pricey side ($15 for a large bucket and grass tee access). More yardage markers/targets would be nice on the left side where the grass tees are since it is set 10-20 yards ba…

Went here for the driving range. Nice range with markers you 200 yards. Most tees are artificial turf, but there are some grass tees open during the summer. Large bucket (102 balls) is $16. Seasonal membership is available too. Close to downtown Syracuse and just off the highway for ease of access. Their driveway off the main street is a bit hidden. There is family and children's area too.

Easily the biggest rip off in Syracuse. The range is too expensive and they charge even more for real grass.. The par 3 is too expensive. Run by a non for profit that is supposed to grow the game, which is the biggest disappointment. It should be way cheaper so more people will play. This is a rich persons par 3. The course in rough shape. The service is easily some of the worst in Syracuse. For 9 dollars more you can play a twighlight round of 18 at Green Lakes. Which is by far in better shape and better course. Rounds are super slow. I never review things but I was so disgusted, I felt it wa…

Par 3, 9-hole course, but for the price they really should clean up the goose poop. It was everywhere, most notably on the greens. We were there around noon and were surprised that there clearly hadn't been any clean up, that given the geese family living on the course, is needed daily.

Perfect course for beginners, and challenging course for more experienced golfers w their short game. Took our 9 yr old daughter and she did really well. Just don't forget your bug spray.

Tried to play a quick 9, we get out and they send a league of 5 year olds in five-somes out in front of us, with no warning. Got through 6 holes in 2 hours and left.

Nice driving range, nice people. Major complaint is goose poop! Watched grounds keeper rake poop all around green, I stead of gatheri g and discarding it. Really disgusting having to walk thru it to green!

Terrible grass tees at the driving range. The whole grassy tee area is a giant mound, it's impossible to find a flat spot. The grass itself is thin and bare in a lot of places, the soil is either too sandy or has too much clay for anything to grow. Also, the ball dispenser is prone to shortchanging you.

More expensive than other 9 hole courses and not that great of a course. The range is okay but the mats have seen their best days and probably need replacement.
