In summary

The Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course is highly regarded for its well-maintained conditions, challenging layout, and friendly staff, offering a quality experience akin to a private course. Golfers appreciate the course's unique design, featuring a mix of hilly and flat terrains with narrow fairways and tricky greens. While the course is praised for its beauty and challenge, some visitors have noted difficulties in securing tee times and occasional slow pace of play, alongside ongoing renovations impacting the playing experience.

Absolute gem of a course. I absolutely love it. Extremely challenging, narrow fairways, tricky greens. This place is a dream or a nightmare depending on how you are playing. LOVE IT

Front 9 is very hilly and challenging. Back 9 plays more downhill and more flat. Well maintained course that’s as close to a private course. Ball washers at every hole. Large putting green and driving range available.

Absolutely phenomenal golf course!!! Best conditions I’ve ever seen for a public course, country club quality. Not very long but several tight fairways and extremely difficult greens. No two holes are alike. Truly an absolute gem!!! My only gripe is not having any logo balls so I can add to my collection. Regardless I am not considering a membership next year after only playing twice. Update: a year later and I will say with conviction that the two best kept public courses on the Island are Bethpage Black and Town of Oyster Bay. TOB is my personal favorite course to play and has become my hom…

Great public course, only 10 mins away from the LIE or the NSP exits at Syosset. Incredibly friendly staff with Marshall’s always around to keep things moving. Long course with a lot of slopes, and very challenging greens.

Absolutely beautiful course for a public course. Very difficult course though. Geared towards more experienced golfers. Very hilly, narrow fairways and fast/narrow greens. A ton of fun though!

Close to New York City, this course isn’t very long but is well-designed for beginners and intermediate players to enjoy. The turf is well-maintained, making for a pleasant playing experience. I’d love to visit again, but without a membership, it’s extremely difficult to secure a reservation—making it hard to go even when I want to.

Generally enjoy playing oyster for the challenging layout and great conditions. Currently, they are completing renovations of their tee boxes, meaning every hole tees off in temp boxes in front of even the forward tees. For this pleasure, they continue to charge full price and have included an inconspicuous disclaimer in the fine print on their website. I appreciate trying to keep the course open during this work, which should have been completed earlier in the season, but to not offer any discount and to not shout this out more on the website is an absolute shame.

The course is in good shape, it should get better during the season. The staff is very friendly and they run it well. The pace of play is usually pretty good and they will come out if you call them to help speed up a slow group. The front nine bring your a game. It is rated low, but it is not that easy

UPDATE (08/16/24): Finally broke 90 with an 86 (+16). ================================= Played the only Tom Fazio-designed Par 70 (only 2 Par 5s) track on Long Island yesterday (08/11/24) and still enjoyed it very much even after being whipped by the course with a 98. I've played this track several times in the past 3 years and have never broken 90. The course stands out from its nearby and more well-known tracks like Bethpage and Eisenhower with its mix of eclectic but difficult holes on the front nine and scoreable holes on the back nine, including two drivable holes (9 and 11) from the w…

The new(2018) Greenskeeper Greg K really turned this course around, greens, tee’s and fairways are better then most private courses even the roughs are beautiful. This course gets a lot of traffic, the maintenance crews are top notch and the pride they take shows. Great alternative to the famed Bethpage course. Very fortunate to have such a great place close to home.

Great par 70 course. Very challenging. Plays longer than 6370. Lots of hills for a Long Island course. Plenty of trees and some narrow fairways. Accuracy is key. Three very challenging par 4 finishing holes. 16 is a beast. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Greens were good last summer.. shaping up now. As with any public course, lots of divots not replaced and God forbid anyone repairs a ball mark or rakes a trap.

This is my home course. I've been playing for a little over 4yrs and play on an average of 100+ rounds a year. I have played all over the island at public and private courses. I call this my home course for many reasons. First and foremost the staff is the absolute best all of them the guys In the starter house are just a great bunch of guys who take care of business to make sure the flow is always moving and they treat everyone with respect and make you feel like you are at a private course. When you are out on the course there is always guys working to keep it in great shape. This course get…
