In summary

The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie offers two distinct courses, Woodlands and Links, both appreciated for their challenging layouts and scenic views. Many visitors commend the friendly and accommodating staff, as well as the well-maintained greens. However, some golfers have experienced issues with course maintenance, early closures of amenities, and occasional operational hiccups, such as delayed tee times and malfunctioning carts. Overall, the club is considered a worthwhile destination, though improvements in certain areas could enhance the experience.

Played the Woodlands Course - my favorite of the two, this sunny, deep blue sky morning. This course is always a fun challenge, in great shape, and always visually stunning among beautiful conifers. Fairways and greens are immaculate. Ian in the clubhouse is very personable and professional.

I have an 8:12am tee time, it’s currently 8:04, gate is locked and closed, no sign of anybody, and a line of cars and people wondering why they aren’t warming up or playing yet. Two tee times in front of me have already passed. This is the third time in a row this has happened to me at this course but this is worse than usual. Employee showed up at 8:25am and apologized for sleeping in, discounted the round which was a nice gesture. Was able to tee off a half hour after our scheduled tee time but couldn't warm up before if we wanted to still get done at a reasonable time.

I played Woodlands with my friends. The golf course was in terrible condition. The fairways were like the photos, and large grass areas were dead—almost every hole. There was also a problem with the course management. Our golf cart lost power on the first hole. We had to wait for a new cart to be delivered. We let two groups play so that, in the end, we played for 4 hours and 45 minutes. I don’t recommend it now.

I play there a lot and have found the staff very friendly and helpful. The assistant Pro Mark Kekoa knows me by name and has been quite helpful with arranging rounds for my family and friends. The greens are in great shape. It is a nice place to play. The staff at the restaurant are also good.

Hadn't played this course in a long time, but enjoyed it once again, walking. There are two 18 hole course here, the Links and Woodlands. Woodlands was closed a couple weeks ago when we played there. I don't remember much from the Woodlands course from years past, but I'm sure I wouldn't have played it multiple times if it wasn't a good one. The Links has some good elevation changes and narrow fairways with plenty of bunkers and some water here and there. Will play again, but would like to get back on the Woodland course someday. I think they had said it was closed for the winter.

I have held a golf event the past 20 years at The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie for clients.... we buy the course out for an afternoon. Year after year they deliver. The staff is great and course has not disappointed.

I played the Links and The course condition was really nice actually. My complaint is the fact the sprinklers were on the entire back 9. From 8am to 930am. Completely ridiculous. I feel robbed having to pay $90 to battle the sprinklers for 9 holes. At one point I was about to take my shot and during my back swing one popped up by my feet and Completely drenched me. Would love a comped round but let's be real. I really hope no one has to experience what I did today for a 720am t time

Read entire review. Worst value in all of thurston county golf. 90 dollars for a not particularly well maintained or beautiful course. Lackluster club house and pro shop as well. I’ve heard that the new management has improved the course and I will be back to give it another shot. Update 2026: After giving hawks prairie another chance this course has done a complete 180, the staff was uber welcoming and friendly, the prices are cheaper, the food and beer is an absolute steal. And the course was in killer shape.

Played 18 on the Links Course for a birthday. Group of 4. Course was fine but they closed the bar & grill before 5 pm on a Saturday. Posted hours said they closed at 7 pm. We were told it was slow so they closed. A big disappointment when we were expecting to get some drinks and some food before the back 9. Would have been nice to be told they were closing early. Overall disappointed for how expensive it was.

The course was in great condition. I really appreciate the fact that I was able to get three times in a row four weeks ahead. You guys are #1 in my book because at my job we are only closed six days a year. All twelve of us were very pleased plus you had a beverage cart out there that made us even happier. We'd love to do it again. Keep up the good work.

Played here for the first time recently, 18 on the Woodlands course. I was hoping for more trees and didn't think there would be so many houses, but I can see why they were literally building houses on the side of a couple fairways as a friend & I played through. Overall, a great track; very well kept. Its been sunny and 60 for a few days in a row: The greens were excellent and pretty fast. There was usually a lot of dance-floor, and where the green ends it was always surrounded by bunkers and /or knolls. A bit of distance between holes but quick with a cart, and very well marked. Definitely…
