In summary

Stoatin Brae Golf Club is highly praised for its stunning landscape, well-maintained course conditions, and unique links-style layout that offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. The staff receives commendations for their hospitality and attentiveness, contributing to memorable visits. While the course's elevated position provides breathtaking views, some visitors have noted occasional slow pace of play and the challenging nature of the greens, particularly in windy conditions.

This might be the best value/deal in golf I’ve ever heard of. This place was AMAZING !!!! So many great holes and no two the same. So unique and some insane views. This isn’t far from Detroit/Ann Arbor so definitely make this drive. It’s worth it !

Played Sunday with a group of friends. The views were great, greens were difficult yet fun and everyone had a great time. The only issue was pace of play with older 4some ahead of us. Outside of that it was a 10/10

Have only visited this venue once, but the grounds are beautiful. Super cold day, so I was surprised the wedding was all in a tent! Had very little interaction with staff, but they seemed fine.

Came here for my girlfriend’s birthday today - this place is a very special place in many ways - from the beauty of the landscape to the pristine manicured greens. Who made it extra special was Brittany the cart girl who went beyond my expectations to make things go smoothe . We are female golfers and sometimes not welcomed- Clayton is also very attentive. I have golfed in many places .. Forest Dunes , Treetops, Maddens in Nisswa, Cragun’s also - Stoatin Brae meets and exceeds these courses and Brittany make it special… so guys make sure you tip her!!!! We girls do!

Went for my brother’s birthday on May 30, 2025. Wasn’t sure what to expect and I was blown away. From the moment we got to the club house, to when we went to check-in, Kurt was awesome. I was not expecting that type of hospitality. He gave us some insights about the course and to make sure we checked out the hanger, which is one of a kind. The course itself self was beautiful. Everything from the tee-box to the green was immaculate. I’m sure the fairway was equally as great, but I didn’t spent much time there. As we were leaving Kurt even popped out to see how we did and to wish my brother a h…

We ended our weekend at Gull Lake with a day of 36 holes at Stoatin. There was a minimal up charge from our stay and play package. Our entire group of 12 agreed it was well worth the small increase. We started the morning with a 2.5 hour rain delay and we weren’t super optimistic of our chances to play all 36. Thanks to the staff at the club we were able to have the perfect day on the course. The conditions were breathtaking and scenery was beautiful. I still can not believe how fast and true the greens were after pouring rain all morning. The grass that is used is really fun to play on. We lo…

Gull Lake View Resort on the outskirts of Kalamazoo in Augusta, Michigan has six golf courses to choose from. Each has earned at least 4.5 stars from Golf Digest. In 2017, the Scott family unveiled their latest creation Stoatin Brae, a course unlike any other on the property. In creating Stoatin Brae, Gull Lake View partnered with Tom Doak’s Renaissance Golf Design and created a course where every golfer, regardless of ability, can find an appropriate tee box to play from and have a memorable golf experience. Stoatin Brae was named both Michigan and National Golf Course of the Year in 2021.…

Stoatin Brae has to be one of the Best courses in all of Michigan, and certainly one of the best in SW Michigan. Sitting on top of a broad ridge, the Links style course has its main challenges in wedge, chipping and putting. Don’t get me wrong, the fairways are not easy either, especially when there is more than 10mph winds. But being precise around the greens is the only way to avoid 3-putting multiple times per round 🤨🤪 The ground and greens maintenance crews are excellent, if not a touch devious, especially with pin placements. The course has always been in immaculate conditions the 15 or s…

The best links course I ever played. Course was in perfect condition. It took me some getting used to the style (48 on the front and 36 on the back - tale of two nines for me). I thought that the fairways were more generous than what I saw in some previous reviews. However, the greens are pretty difficult and speedy. I could not stick it close to the pin on the front, then took one club less and ran the ball towards the hole on the back. Missing in the correct location is a must. Layout was awesome, will definitely try to play here again!

Positives: Fun layout, particularly the back nine, which had had much more interesting topography. It has a good amount of variety in terms of short and longer holes, direction changes, and doglegs both ways. Greens were pure and very fun, especially on shorter holes that allow for more dramatic slopes. Negatives: Despite being advertised as a links style, firm and fast course, the fairway cut was way too long and prevented any sort of ground play from off the greens. Pace of play was also a massive issue. Overall found the course a bit underwhelming relative to expectations, as we traveled…

Real fun golf course! I didn’t realize that Kalamazoo County had this much elevation. The layout was unique, conditions were very good and every hole gave me opportunities to score… or not!
