Alright, buckle up, folks, because I’m about to take y’all on a wild ride through Spring Lake Country Club in York, South Carolina-where the grass is green, the golf balls fly, and the charm is as thick as Aunt Edna’s homemade apple pie! First off, this place is nestled in the rolling hills of Upstate South Carolina, just a hop, skip, and a jump (about 30 minutes) from Charlotte, NC. It’s like the perfect little hideout for city slickers who wanna trade skyscrapers for some good ol’ Bermuda grass and rye fairways[1][2]. Now, don’t let the mostly flat terrain fool ya-there’s a sneaky hill or t…

Me and my family are members here and I am really disappointed that the tee boxes haven't been addressed all winter. Some holes there are literally no tee boxes, just uneven dirt or rough at best. They have made some improvements in other areas but come on. If you don't have tee boxes it makes starting the hole no fun at all. If you are a women, forget it. No tee boxes at all on several holes. Just the markers stuck in the ground in uneven dirt. My daughters hates it. It wouldn't take that much effort and money to add some dirt and level out some of the tee boxes. It's the reason we may not be…

'd been two years since my first visit and my last review so time for an update. It was Black Friday and I joined a group of 16 friends, mostly from Gaston County. We had a 1030a time, good thing I called ahead, there was a one hour frost delay. There were carts and guys waiting all round the #1 tee box and there was no started in sight. I walked in the ProShop, there were 2 guys standing there and I asked one guy was there a starter. He turned to the other guy and he said year, I'm the starter, what can I do for you? I just turned around and walked out. It was stacked up and backed up all…

Absolutely a pleasure coming to this course repeatedly. I started playing golf a little over a year ago and have felt absolutely welcomed here. I first played here in the spring and everyone from the front desk to the greens have been nice and made me feel welcome. I ended up getting a membership bc of the frequency in which I started to play. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens continue to be well maintained and continue to improve. They are continually improving all aspects of the course. My son was also encouraged to start with the juniors group and loves interacting with others his age who…

Played 6/26/20... I would play again but only if I got a discounted rate. Definitely not worth the price you would normally pay. Some fairways were nice. Some were terrible. Lots of weeds. Tee boxes were okay. Greens were aerated but good. Hard to get a good score when you’re hitting off either weeds, sand(not bunker), or rock hard ground with no grass layer. Hole design was good but everywhere you stand there’s a chance someone off another tee box will cream you. You gotta keep your head on a swivel. Still a fun time for high handicap players.

Played on May 19th at 3:00. Course has some bare spots, as do the greens. Comparable to Green Meadows, which is in Mount Holly but has closed. Overall, it was a good experience. Price of $34 for cart and green fees was reasonable. Played in 2.5 hours, which was great. I'll return to play again.

Played here several times before and never had any issues until now. Most people who are playing in groups and have any sense of golf etiquette would let one person behind them play through. Not the general manager apparently. She was playing in front of me for about four holes, and i had to wait on her and her group of three other people playing with her at least 20 minutes per hole. She only decided to notice me when she didn’t like where i was driving with my cart, despite the fact there were no signs indicating i shouldn't. After waiting on them again another ten minutes i decided to go ar…

Greens are good a little slow, faifairways are little sparse. Maybe fertilize and overseed. Still overall enjoyable to play.

I was hesitant to go here after seeing some of the reviews but was extraordinarily surprised and happy and how much fun it was to play here. This is an great old school, fun course to play with extraordinarily difficult greens and super friendly people everywhere. And for the price there's no way you can beat it. You won't be disappointed playing here but don't expect the same level of groundskeeping that you would find at a $100 per round course.

Course is okay for the rate, but the people are the problem here. Stopped at the turn for a hot dog, it was ice cold as if it had never even been heated through begin with. We go outside to eat it quickly on our cart, when the short portly fellow that works there told us to “keep it moving” even though there was approximately 10 cars in the parking lot and nobody behind us the entire time. Not to mention the back 9 is the most boring 9 holes in golf. Between the cold hot dog and horrible customer interaction I would think twice about spending money to play here. Edited to say that Buck is the…
