What People Say
In summary
South Park Golf Club is often praised for its well-maintained course, scenic layout, and affordability, making it a popular choice among golfers in the Pittsburgh area. Many appreciate the improvements made by the grounds crew, noting the course's challenging yet enjoyable design. However, some visitors have experienced issues with staff interactions and the check-in process, and there are occasional concerns about course maintenance and crowded play during peak times.

Pros and cons Pro Staff at front desk was helpful but not cheerful plenty of them there. Cart guys were happy and helpful and said thanks. Cons. Course is reverting to the old south park conditions. Heavy rough. Greens not cut or rolled. Need sand for divots Fringes have fungi. Tee boxs are beat up and need overseaded. The increased cost doesn't equal the conditions at all! Gotta do better.

The superintendent continues to met and exceed expectations. The price raise only is going to drive away the terrible golfers that didn't respect the course and will allow for even more improvements in the future. Keep up the great job golf team.

An excellent municipal course! I played on a weekday afternoon after a morning rainstorm so the course was empty. The course was in great condition, my only concern was some of the tee boxes needed work but nothing to cry about. Very open concept layout, easy off the tee with only a handful of holes having OB. Lots of elevation changes throughout led to many sloping lies on fairways; the course was built into the natural contour of the landscape. Fairways were long and narrow but the rough was cut short, greens were in great conditions and rolled true, and overall the course had few blemishes…

What a beautiful course. Even after some historic, torrential rainstorms the course was well maintained and ready for play. The views from the tee boxes are fabulous with some very challenging holes. One of the best public courses, especially for the price.

Full 18 hole course and a 9 hole course. Tee time booking online is fast and easy. Staff has always been very nice. Short courses, but they are always in good condition and it’s cheap. Overall awesome and much better than other public courses in this price range.

Loved this course once upon a time. Now your lucky to get a tee time, they jam you in so your always being squeezed. Course is fairly easy, problem is that everyone is a Golfer except their not....so plan on being there 4.5 to 5 hours playing 18

UPDATE: TEE TIMES ARE NOW AVAILABLE THIS IS NOW MY FAVORITE LOCAL COURSE. This course is in the best shape ever. Practice chipping and putting before your round. The only issue is NO TEE-TIMES. That's rediculous. Lines out the door and you can't pay until you up.

Scenic, fun, well laid-out and nicely-maintained public course operated by cranks and ghouls who hate golf, thinking, and interacting with other people, and love power trips. Management there wants to ruin your experience as much as possible and are willing to go out of their way to do so. Can’t understand how North Park’s course can be so well run with 0 issues in well over 50 rounds played and it’s sister course under the same ACP director can be a black hole where I have yet to play without feeling like I’m walking in a hostile dictatorship trying to pay and get to the first tee like Georg…

Definitely needs maintenance and landscaping done. Some of the greens are terrible. Overall, a so so experience. In summary, I had a terrible experience and I am never going back there. The gentlemen at the pro shop was wonderful. Other than that, horrible.

Close to a five star if you factor in price. Fairly open municipal course that has been fixed up(told this by playing partners) to a high level. Challenging lies . Flat-ish greens. Decent pace of play. I would definitely return.

I was apprehensive about golfing here based on some of the negative reviews. The course exceeded my expectations!! Conditions were excellent, the recent rain probably helped, the tee boxes were fine, fairways lush and the greens were in great shape. I played 9 holes, apparently there is an 18 and 9 hole course. Booking was easy, checkin fine - the older woman in the pro shop was easy to deal with. I will definitely be back. Update - went back for 18, the twosome who booked at my time slot never showed so I was a single in a cart. Was in a nice space between 2 foursomes, I played a nice easy pa…

Best conditions for a public course in Pittsburgh, and a great value if you can get a tee time. Seems there is much more availability for walk-ons if playing the 9-hole course. Clubhouse is a historic building so restrooms are minimal. Their check-in process is unique in that you walk up to the counter to let them know you arrived (there are separate areas for the 9 and the 18) and then don’t pay until they call your party name over the loudspeaker to come back to the counter. Struck me as odd that they don’t call anyone for the tee, just to return to pay.
