In summary

River Islands Golf Club is praised for its challenging and scenic layout, with well-maintained fairways and greens that offer a rewarding experience for golfers looking to test their skills. The staff is noted for being friendly and accommodating, enhancing the overall experience. While some visitors mention minor maintenance issues and ongoing recovery from storm damage, these do not significantly detract from the enjoyment of the course. The course's unique setting along the French Broad River adds to its appeal, making it a recommended destination for golfers in the Knoxville area.

Great and challenging track! Very well maintained as well! Has a good layout with just about every hole being challenging but rewarding! If you want a chance to use every club in your bag go here! I would not recommend coming if you’re a beginner or new to golf!

Most fun I've had shooting a 96. Im normally a mid 80s golfer. Was in town from AZ dropping off my son at college. Wife and I took a few extra days to golf and explore. I get why its listed as one of the hardest courses in the state. Drop offs, funky lies, deep grass, water to carry. From talking to folks at clubhouse (who were awesome), on this course, mid HC like me, sub 100 is great. I had a great time. Thankfully, paired with some locals who knew the course. This will absolutely be must play when I'm in the area.

Played 18 holes here yesterday, and we had a great time! Fairways and greens were in great shape, and the course was very scenic from start to finish. The course is challenging in all the right ways. Absolutely recommend playing here!

Fun course. Greens and fairways are well kept. Challenging layout. Some greens are small or are surrounded by bunkers or water which makes this course challenging. Lots of wildlife. Enjoyed playing here. The staff was very friendly. The starter is a funny guy. This place will be top tier when they finish repairs from the killer flood that came thru east TN and western NC.

Played this course quite a few times over the last 7-8 years and it’s always been hit or miss, played it today (June 5th) and the course is in amazing shape, the clubhouse, the carts, the greens, the tee boxes, completely amazed how much improvements have been made. If you’ve played this in the past and been on the fence, give it another chance, might now be top 3 public course in the Knoxville area

Very nice course, needs some bunker TLC but they are still recovering from Helene.

This is a good solid course. Nice practice facilities, great staff in the pro shop, and the course itself is in good condition. Although, the course itself is in good shape, some of the surrounding river banks along the holes have a considerable amount of debris on them. I was told a storm brought it in, so I totally understand. The difficulty of removing some of that stuff looks pretty significant since there are some major trees and giant pieces of metal. Despite that, the course is a lot of fun. Challenging forsure, so keeping the ball straight off the tee is a must. Plenty of shots on par…

Fantastic layout and fun to play. Overall very good conditions other than the greens playing a bit slower than I like. Some great backdrops and fun par 3’s over the river. Definitely on my permanent list of courses to play when I visit the area.

Came to town for the weekend from Northern Indiana. Decided to book a tee time for Friday morning 9/5 at Island Pointe with the wife. The course was in great condition the fairways were smooth and the greens were all in amazing shape. The course is very challenging but also very fun, it really made me play shots and not just smash my way around the course. The carts were very nice the only way I can think to make them better is the addition of GPS but most just use an app on their phone anyways. The pro shop was nice and accommodating the person we interacted with at the counter was very nice…

Update on course 9/14/24: Course was in great shape. No complaint’s on course conditions. The only complaint I have, the ranger kept pushing my son and I on the first few holes. Not sure why, as we were a twosome and kept up with the foursome in front of us. I think the owner or managers foursome was behind us and they had to wait. It’s kinda hard to play fast when there are several groups in front holding everyone up. He made the group in front of us let us pass. He didn’t push any groups in front of them, as we then ended up behind a threesome that was being held up by another foursome. Not s…

Island pointe is such a beautiful place. This is a course that is not for the faint of heart. The only downfall of this course is that there were a few weeds on the greens that made it difficult to put on... The Course is still recovering from some flood damage from Helen, but they are doing well. This overall was such a fun course. So glad to have been able to play it today

Such a fun track. Kudos to the grounds for keeping it up to speed. Not an easy course to maintain. Bring your iron game and play smart, she will reward you. Dec 28 2023 late review.
