The Pete Dye River Course Of Virginia Tech is consistently ranked among the best collegiate courses in the nation and is one of the better public courses in Virginia. The course is always in amazing shape and is one of the most affordable Pete Dye designs in the country. The course itself is relatively difficult and features wide fairways, over 100 bunkers, and severely sloping greens making it a great test for golfers of all skill levels. The staff are very friendly and professional and made my round a very good experience.

Outstanding golf course. A narrow linksy Pete Dye that is extremely well-priced. Best value in the state: name-brand architect, links course carved out of a mountain river flood plain. Will be back. Virginia golf needs more of this. 10/10.

Phenomenal layout, good scenery as the river is alongside the entire course. Conditions were impressive. Clubhouse staff was friendly. If you’re looking for one to add to the rotation I’d strongly consider this one.

This is a spectacular course. The views are gorgeous, the layout is fun yet challenging, and the course was in excellent condition. Everyone we interacted with at the course was very friendly and accomodating. Too bad I don't live closer or else I'd be playing here often!

Absolute gem of a golf course. Went on a 17 course trip through VA, GA, SC and NC - this was one of the best courses in the trip by a mile. Equally fun and challenging, great value, and exceptionally well designed. Would go out of my way to play this course again.

Phenomenal course in a beautiful setting. Pete outdid himself with this one. Fantastic views from every hole and a tough course to go along with it!

It’s a very nice course but the management is terrible. The conditions of the course are awful and they aren’t putting the resources to solve it. The tee boxes are full of divots, the rough is basically all dirt and very few grass, the grass in the fairways is so dry that it’s starting to die. The price it’s insane and for that amount of money the course should be in a better shape. It’s so disappointing.

Came here for a golf trip in the middle of August. Very sweet course. We preferred the front 9 vs the back 9. Saturday morning round with a cart rental was $70 so not bad at all. Friendly staff helps with your clubs and loading onto the cart. The restaurant was solid as well and has great prices. Though opens at 11, we had to settle for a bag of chips and jerky as we had a 8 AM tee time and couldn’t eat until after our round was done.

What a wonderful gem tucked away in southwestern Virginia with fabulous views along the New River. Bent grass fairways make you want to hit the fairways even more. There are no trees in play. The bunkering and greens provide plenty of challenges for your round. Oh, and wait until you see the view from the clubhouse.

This has got to be one of the best bangs for your buck out there. Classic Pete Dye architecture along the river, with quirky humps and hollows all over the place. Even if your last shot was not any good, your next shot will be fun!

A "must play" for any golf lover who happens to be in the area. Gorgeous and unique location with a beautiful clubhouse perched high above the river providing expansive 270 degrees views of the course and surrounding valley from the deck, the ideal after-round gathering spot. The condition of the course is near perfect with velvet fairways and fast smooth greens, truly remarkable considering the time of year. In typical Pete Dye style, it's a challenging course with lots of undulations, bunkers and elevated greens and is a true test of skill from either set of back tees while being equally cha…
