In summary

Purgatory Golf Club is widely praised for its well-maintained course, challenging layout, and excellent facilities, including a notable clubhouse with quality food and drink options. The staff is generally regarded as friendly and accommodating, contributing to a positive overall experience. However, some visitors have mentioned issues with the cart paths and occasional rude interactions, which detract from the otherwise high-quality experience.

This course was fantastic. The amount of hard work put into maintaining it is incredible. I think the price to play is completely reasonable! They do a really great job at keeping things moving. It was such a difficult course to play but so much fun. The greens are insane!! Whoever worked the desk this morning was incredibly rude. The girls working the bar and drink cart are amazing and all in all this was an awesome experience. Will be back!

Purgatory Golf Club is one of those rare gems where top-tier golf meets great food and drink. From the moment you step onto the course, the care and quality are obvious—lush fairways and greens that are impeccably maintained, offering a true test of skill and an absolutely gorgeous walk (or ride). But what really sets Purgatory apart is the experience off the course. The clubhouse serves up local brews from Bad Dad Brewing Co., and they don’t miss. Whether you’re sipping a crisp IPA or something darker post-round, it’s the perfect pairing for the atmosphere. Even better? Their BBQ is fantasti…

Overall an awesome facility with one of my favorite logos in golf. Really great conditions/greens, especially for the second week of March. Make sure to skip the hot dog at the turn to save room for the home smoked BBQ Pork Sandwich and Fries in the bar after the round. It was fantastic!

I had my wedding scheduled for 12/27/25 & I had to cancel my wedding due to a family emergency. I just wanted to make it known to upper management; to Brandi, or even anyone looking to plan an event. She was everything I ever needed in planning my wedding. I am so brokenhearted that I have had to cancel my wedding. This venue was going to be ever so perfect for me. Brandi was very helpful, patient & understanding of me. I also wanted to thank the GM for helping my family during such a difficult time. I hope to plan something here again. ♥️

I’m absolutely dumbfounded on how to play golf, but I was just as dumbfounded to know that there are monthly dinners here featuring a local winery or distillery. My friends raved about these events, so I joined them for two different dinner events. SUPERB. A bright and cheerful staff; food and service done with top notch quality and clockwork swiftness. A round of golf may stupefy me. But a round of wondrous dishes in their multi-course monthly dinners? Count me IN!! HIGHLY recommended.

This is my favorite golf course in Indiana. It’s a must play for any serious golfer. The layout is long and punishing. You can score well if you find fairways and make solid approach shots. Scrambling and bunker skills are required here. You will find yourself in long grass and bunkers…maybe even on the same hole. The wind can make the course really difficult. The facilities are excellent. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. I have played here multiple times, but most recently I played 36 in a day and the experience was top notch. The course conditions are pristine. Greens are fast a…

Just had an annual golf trip with 16 guys and we had a great time. We spent Friday at Purgatory and it lived up to what I had read online. The course was in great shape (aside from some of the paths as mentioned in other posts). I believe the area got a lot of rain the week leading up but the course wasn't soggy and drained well. It also appeared a lot of sand was used not just for bunkering but for the course itself which would have helped with the drainage. The clubhouse was incredibly nice and the food was great too. Reasonably priced for a course of this level I thought as well. Would high…

Nice course and layout. The pace of play was good, no issues. It was early in the season, so the heather didn't factor in at all. My only real issue from what we thought was going to be a top notch golf experience... The cart paths and the first yard or two around the cart paths need serious work!

Lots of challenges. Lives up to its name every time. Plenty of tee boxes to accommodate all skill levels. Definitely don’t be afraid to move to some easier tees. Bring extra balls. A round later in the day will offer some breathtaking views of the course. Great food available at the club house.

It is a very challenging course, and yet also very playable. It is in great shape and the greens were pretty quick. Overall, a great public course and worth the little bit of a drive to get to it.

Unfortunately, I don't really see any reason to ever come back here. I will say, I didn't have a bad experience but I've paid green fees a 1/3rd of what they charge here and had a better experience. Rather than provide a rangefinder or GPS on the cart they have a (what I'm assuming is) complimentary app. Well, it's 2023. Everyone has a golf GPS app on their phone. Yet, places charging less offer more amenities. The cart paths were a death trap, too. It hasn't rained in a week, yet there were massive puddles collected in craters in the cart paths. Yet somehow, the course seemed otherwise excess…

This is a beautiful and challenging course on 218 acres. The smokehouse restaurant at the clubhouse makes their own BBQ sauces and never dissapoints.
