In summary

Lake Carlsbad Golf Club is appreciated for its friendly staff, beautiful views, and well-maintained course, offering a challenging layout with both 9-hole and 18-hole options. Visitors also note its affordability and suitability for families. However, some criticisms include issues with course management, such as slow pace of play, limited cart availability, and occasional maintenance needs on certain greens and fairways.

This has to be the worst and most unorganized golf course I’ve ever played at. I booked a tee time Monday afternoon for Saturday, only to arrive and wait over 2 hours past our scheduled tee time because they didn’t have enough carts available. While we were waiting, we watched multiple groups finish hole 18 and go right back to hole 1, completely backing up the course even more. To make things worse, there were no marshals or staff managing the pace of play or stopping people from cutting back in line. The entire operation was chaotic and poorly managed from start to finish. Extremely disappoi…

Lovely course, great carts. A little hard to find your way around. We got lost on 18 but otherwise had a great day.

Not bad for a Muni. Visiting from San Antonio and this is the course to play at here. Fairways weren't terrible but not lush. I love the elevated greens on some holes with no room for error or else your ball is rolling. Tight fairways and rolling hills on a few. Had a great time.

It's a public course so there's lots of teens. They mess around a lot and slow lay down. The course is pretty well maintained and it's peaceful when kids go back to school during the week.

Not the greatest course but it’s very green and I decent place to play. Some of the fairways are tight. The driving range is real tight and the ball dispenser that you pay with card is handy. The pro shop was lacking not much in it. It does have a decent view of the river and a lot of space for events. The golf carts ran good so nothing fancy

Can’t never get on this course till after 4:30pm. Then you go down there and the first 3 holes are wide up. If you call weeks in advance they tell you the same damn thing sorry unfortunately we don’t have any tee times till 4:30 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️.

Great local course, super fun 9 hole course here to play some par3 holes if you have less time. I am a local and play here often the 18hole course is actually pretty challenging according to some more seasoned players I have talked to (it has blind greens). This is a nationally ranked course, so it makes sense. Staff is super friendly and helpful.

Super friendly pro shop staff. I was missing a club and they let me use an extra they had laying around. Course was in pretty decent shape. I was pleasantly surprised as my golf experiences in the area so far had been less than ideal. I would definitely recommend this place if you are passing through and looking to play a quick amd cheap round.

We have come to this golf course several times. It’s a nice course with a few challenging holes. Most of the time we come with our husbands and never have a problem but this time was just us sisters. For some reason the marshal felt that we weren’t playing fast enough. There was a team of four men and a team of six men in front of us, three men behind us, and a team of two men after them; a packed day. Being the only women there we were the only ones who were made to wait to let the men play through despite us playing most of our shots at two or three over par and 5 pars total, no balls lost a…

Played the new mini golf course. Needs some maintenance and weeding, but overall a nice place.

Good course. The city took it back earlier this year and the condition of the course is night and day compared to previous years. They've been very liberal with watering and the result is great turf throughout the fairways . We're not hitting from dirt and rock as we were a couple of years ago. I no longer call it The Goat Ranch! LOL. Seriously, it's a nice course. Hats off to the staff, they've done an exceptional job.

We've been here twice and will continue to go. The 9-hole course is perfect for us (takes about two hours), and is really affordable. It costs like $15/couple. I do wish the course was maintained a bit better because in some spots the grass is dead and in other spots it's really long and needs to be cut. However, the views of the train bridge and the river are nice.
