In summary

Green Lakes Golf Course is highly praised for its well-maintained conditions, beautiful layout designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and stunning views within a state park setting. The staff is frequently commended for their friendliness and accommodating nature, while the clubhouse and amenities enhance the overall experience. However, some visitors express frustration with the slow pace of play and overbooked tee times, which can lead to extended rounds.

Blown away by this course! What a gem…I will definitely be back! Club house is awesome to have a meal and drinks with a sweet view of Green Lakes and surrounding areas!

Took a trip from Rochester, NY and what a gorgeous course, excellent conditioning, huge undulating greens. Great clubhouse and practice area. Huge elevation changes. Great variety. Must play in the area.

Green Lakes State Park Golf Course is a tremendous, well managed, and extremely well maintained golf course. We only play here once or twice a year because we have a 2 hour 20 minute commute one-way from the Capital District to the course, so getting a foursome of retired old guys to commit to the commute is sometimes a challenge. That said, my friends who have been willing to make the commute all absolutely love this Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed layout. The course is challenging, a very interesting layout with tee boxes, fairways and greens that are absolutely pristine and beautiful to pla…

This was my second trip to Green Lakes, the first was not great as it took 5 hours to play 12 holes before I threw in the towel. My last time around was much better, I went on a Monday morning and had no problem getting around the course. The greens and fairways were in great condition, the rough and sand traps were not in great condition but for the price of admission they were fine. The back 9 greens were brutal, they certainly tested my putting skills. This is a popular public course which is a great value but on a busy day expect it to play slow.

Always wanted to golf here since it was designed by Robert Trent Jones. I stopped on my way from Albany to Rochester but was told I could not play today as they were beginning league play. However the manager overheard the conversation and kindly intervened and said if I could get on the first T-box in five minutes I could play. Well it was a lovely course, well manicured, soft sand in the traps and the greens were in very good condition. I had one of the nicest golf experiences. I will return with friends! ⛳️

I have never played here before, but a bunch of friends had an outing. The course was in great shape, the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Nice way to spend some time with friends. Definitely a challenge from the back tees.

Fantastic course and one of the best in CNY -- was my original review, but this course is just TOO SLOW. The course is nice and impeccably maintained, but the people who run the course are semi-bullies and you can expect 9 holes to take at LEAST three hours. It's the slowest course I've ever played. The views are fine too, but that doesn't outweigh the head-splitting irritation of playing sooooo slowly.

Best public course in the area. Always a surprise to get out in October and it be decent weather

The course is amazing but the staff there over books the teetimes like every three minutes so you’re waiting every time to take your shot. It’s almost not worth playing anymore. A three hour round turns into seven hours there absolutely terrible and frustrating.

I love this place. Beautiful rolling course, great rates, nice short game area, and friendly staff. Plus, there’s a restaurant on property!

They overbook tee times. No matter the time of day you go, there will be 3 groups on every hole. You will wait to take every shot. Avoid this place unless you enjoy 6 hour rounds of golf.
