In summary

Elks Golf Club of Hillsboro is praised for its well-maintained greens, which many consider among the best in southern Ohio, and its friendly, accommodating staff. The course layout, with its elevation changes and unique holes, adds to the enjoyment of playing there. However, some visitors have noted issues with the fairways being rough or hard, and a few have experienced customer service challenges, particularly regarding tournament scheduling and pace of play. The on-site dining at Grub’n Monkey receives mixed reviews, with some appreciating the food and atmosphere, while others point out limited menu options and occasional service issues.

I have not played this course since Highschool back in Mid 80's. Due to drought(not fault of course crew) the fairways were rough. However, the Greens were of highest quality I have ever played on. Kind of Greens you would see on $200.00 course back in Texas. I just wish I could take some of those Greens with me to putt on at every course. The Greenskeeper has exceeded himself with those greens.

A fun local track! Greens were in great condition and rolled very true. The blue tees for the second nine were a hoot!

We went here to eat at the Grub’n Monkey. It was decent. The menu options were pretty limited but the prices were reasonable, the serving sizes were generous and the flavor was excellent. I would consider this to be more like bar food rather than a family restaurant. The facility was a bit run down. There were several fruit flies buzzing around us while we were eating which is always a turn off for me at restaurants.

I do not like to give 1 star reviews unless it is very much warranted, and I feel like it is in this case. I honestly couldn't care less about the condition of the course. Sure, it's pretty rough. The tee boxes are wrecked and the fairways are all but nonexistent, but I go out golfing to have fun, not to rant about the course conditions. Today my brother and I decided to take a friend out for his first time golfing. The three of us made it through our first 9 holes and yes, it took a good long while. We let several groups play through in front of us because we knew we were taking a long time w…

I played it on a beautiful fall Friday and just happened to have the entire course to myself. I love old school golf courses and Hillsboro Elks certainly fits the bill. It's a fun little track with some elevation changes.

Lovely place to visit. Great Parking. Staff is above and beyond. Food selection is very diverse. This is Fine Dining. My husband and I ordered the best steak on the menu. Mine was perfect...his was not. I had him cut 2 pieces for me to try...I could not eat it either. The manager came over, saw the meat on my husband's plate, asked what he could do, I requested that he take it back. He offered to replace it with some other dish, we said no. Just the check please. He gave us a small discount on our check. The fact remained: the steak looked terrible. I might go back in a few months, but no one…

Fairways are as hard as concrete. Lived the layout, of course. Just didn't want to break my irons, so I didn't use them as much as I wanted too.

Arguably the best greens in southern Ohio. Small greens with subtle breaks that will challenge your putting skills. Course has elevation changes and no two holes are the same.

The course looked in good shape for the start of the winter. It was getting dark around 5:30 pm, today. It was a very cloudy day.
