In summary

Bob O'Connor Golf Course at Schenley Park is appreciated for its convenient city park location, scenic views, and friendly staff, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The course is known for its short layout with manageable par 4s and well-kept greens, offering a pleasant walking experience. However, some golfers express concerns about the artificial turf tee boxes, crowded layout, and occasional safety issues due to road crossings and proximity to park activities.

Lucky for me I planned to be in town the same weekend that the course hosted an event in cooperation with EASTSIDE GOLF and DICKS SPORTING GOODS. The course was immaculate and very warm and inviting. Special guest Detroit Mackenzie’s Notre Dames STEELERS LEGEND JEROME BETTIS made the occasion even more special. Shout out to EASTSIDE GOLF and there amazing apparel and mission.

Not going to lie, the course needs some work. I applaud the staff and first tee but this is a dangerous golf course to play with all of the road crossings and holes playing too close to one another. Course conditions are very poor as well and you are hitting off of mats at the tees. But the views of downtown and Oakland are great! Just be aware of what you are getting into.

An interesting course nestled in the heart of a city park—conveniently located with fantastic views! It’s my favorite spot to unwind after work. The first tee class is excellent, and the coaches are outstanding.

Very nice 9 hole coarse close to downtown. There aren’t carts but that’s ok, I prefer to walk. The staff is wonderful! I didn’t catch the woman’s name that greeted me, but she was very nice and this was a pleasant experience.

Super fun course. Well maintained considering the volume they see, also just gives you the hometown vibe even though you’re right smack dahntahn. I was running late and the guys at the clubhouse had no problem accommodating my friend and me. Also has beautiful views of the city. If you love smacking hybrids and irons, this is the spot! Haha.

Beautiful inner-city green retreat.. but I wish they had a 19th hole at their new golf shop for refreshments

Not a very good experience. Tee boxes were mats, fairways were spots of dirt and overgrown grass, balls flying over your head without a warning, people walking dogs while you're trying to tee off, and other golfer picking up your ball like it was their own. Not a fun or safe place to play. I wouldn't call it a course, more a practice place. I don't know how others are praising this place woth 5 stars unless they've never seen what a real course should look like. SMH

Interesting golf course. Hits over the road several times. Short course with turf tee boxes. Nice greens and fairways, steep hills and walking only. Cheap and laid back.

I grew up playing and learning the game on this local Pittsburgh course in the 80’s and have many fond memories of its old layout. I learned how to play every conceivable hilly lie, blind shot, off center stance, imperfect lie, etc etc. And whatever it may have lacked in sophistication and polish, it more than made up for in the skills it forced me to learn, and which helped me tremendously over the years on other courses. I played the new course the last time I was home and enjoyed that they’ve kept a few of the old eighteen in the nine. Times change and maybe people expect more from every la…

Great location, awesome new facility. Nice practice greens right out front. Could really be a nice place but they sell tee times every 5 minutes, maybe even more somehow. After 3 there’s a line on the 1st box with wildly slow pace. Greens and fairways need some work.
