In summary

Black Hawk Golf Course receives mixed reviews, with some visitors appreciating the friendly staff and the course's scenic views. However, many express concerns about the poor condition of the greens and fairways, attributing issues to maintenance challenges and recent weather conditions. There are also complaints about management and communication regarding the course's state, with some feeling that the quality does not justify the cost.

Have played here before many times - no issues. Played Course #1 today - as we were paying, the attendant said "just to warn you, the greens are pretty rough". Would have been nice to know ahead of time or when we called for the tee time. I do not know if the other three nines are in the same shape, but course 1 was probably in the worst shape of any course I have played in my life. The greens were basically hardpan dirt with lines everywhere and cracking dirt all over the place. The guy said they were putting in a new irrigation system, which is fine, but you can't make people pay full price…

I enjoy the course, they've got some burned out greens that hopefully don't end up like last year. The range is not good, there are no rubber tees for the mats and the grass you can hit off of is in terrible shape. Mostly sand and weeds, can't understand why they dont maintain it. Balls were dirty. When you dump your balls from the basket they get covered in sand and it marked up my new club. Plant some flipping grass.

If you've ever wondered how they played golf on the moon with all the craters just come here. Place is a dump and in the worst shape I have ever seen a golf course. Just find and empty parking lot and hit shots, because it will be in better shape than this course.

The course is absolutely awful, might as well golf in a parking lot. Wont be back again.

Used to love this course and played it almost everytime I played. It was in good condition especially for a public course. But as of the past year or 2 it has significantly declined in condition.

2nd Review Played another round at Blackhawk on 7/19/25, this time on the 3rd and 4th nines. I was very disappointed in the course. All of the greens were in bad shape. Some worse than others. There was disease and dead spots on most of them and they were all “furry”. Maybe they were not cutting them to try and let them heal, it was not working. What I did not understand was the incredibly butchered collars on almost every green. What is up with the yellow mesh flags? The length is deceptive at first. The par 5’ are very long and the majority of the par 4’s are short. You need to score well…

This place has gone downhill for the past three years. Each time they blame it on mother nature. The problem is that they have incompetent management and are very cheap. Three years ago the fairways didn't get cut until June. I lost several balls in the fairway. Last year the greens got burnt out and I thought couldn't get any worse. This year they got worse. I belong in a league at this course and it's a course I used to really like. They say it will get better next year with all the work they are doing to the course....don't hold your breath. I feel really bad for all those holding a tournam…

This is the first review I have ever written for anywhere, but something has to be said. It's a shame to see this place go so downhill so quickly. I grew up golfing here and always bragged to friends how beautiful it is for a public course, but these are by the worst conditions I have EVER seen (on ANY course). They should really consider 1. Informing people how bad the conditions are and 2. Offering a discounted rate. The bartender mentioned a new irrigation system, but that does not explain greens that are 70% dirt. It does not explain the absolutely tore-to-shred tee-boxes. It is not just t…

excellent treatment to the tourists. The guy in pro shop was nice. That was my experience today in this field. The local people playing in the course are very courteous. The course and greens are in excellent condition. I would give 10 starts

Hey yall, Jeff Saturday here! Just the friendly neighborhood golfer. I was really disappointed by the atmosphere here at Blackhawk. The pro shop employee was very disrespectful and was hinting at racist agendas. Also on hole 17 there was a very old man with an American flag polo on yelling disrespectful comments towards me and my crew. I believe Old American flag shirt man has a 72% spawn rate at hole 17. I would watch out if I were you. Very sketchy course guys I would watch your surroundings! Good luck to all going here!
