Barren River Lake State Resort Park Golf Club

Save yourself $45 dollars and play another course. While they did redo all of the greens and clear trees out, it’s still not worth it. The greens weren’t mowed or rolled and were painfully slow and bumpy. Every putt bounced the entire time it moved. For a course to redo their greens and then advertise that they have new greens, you would think they would put forth more effort to making them roll true and smooth. It also doesn’t help that the staff at the course is very unfriendly. I felt like I was bothering them just by being there to play golf. No worries though, I don’t plan on going back.

Very disappointing for the cost. We show up an hour early to warm up. The putting green is blocked off. We ask why it's blocked off and the attendant begrudgingly says "they don't want nobody on it". Ok? We asked if they would put us on some hot dogs for when we make the turn, he said ok. Heading to the driving range and see that you have to use your own balls then go pick them up? Wow. The fairways are in good condition. The greens have dead spots and rots. The BUNKERS are empty and filled with rocks?!? At the turn we go inside the club house. The rollers are off. No hotdogs. This is an interesting course with some interesting holes. The greens were in fantastic shape. I would give it 5 stars but the cart paths are horrible!

Good Kentucky State Park Golf Course with limitations...The good; The zoysia tee boxes and fairways were in pretty good condition. The greens were the TifEagle Dwarf Bermuda running true and fast with hardly any noticable divots. Value was decent at $35. Anything above that is not worth it. The bad; All the bunkers and some areas around them and along the cart paths are trash. No sand just overgrown weeds and soil erosion. The cart paths are in need of major maintenance. New Greens are fantastic! They are already extremely fast and it’s not even Summertime yet. Recommend anyone giving this spot a try!!
