What People Say

In summary

The Plantation Golf Club receives mixed reviews, with some visitors praising the recent improvements in course conditions and the friendly, accommodating staff. The layout of both Cranes Roost and Otter Creek courses is appreciated by many, and the club is noted for its pleasant atmosphere and well-organized events. However, several reviewers express dissatisfaction with the condition of the fairways and greens, citing issues such as sparse grass and maintenance problems, and some find the pricing not reflective of the course quality.

Was told by the pro shop the course was in better shape than Penbrook which was surprising to me as it’s in great shape and is our home course. That is NOT the case here at Otters Creek, this place is in horrible condition. The greens barely have grass on them, and the fairways are like playing in a cow pasture. Stuck behind 3 groups starting at hole 4 which slowed pace of play for everyone including the 3 groups behind us. We forfeited play at hole 15 cause we just couldn’t take it anymore. No ambassador in site for relief. For 2 golfers at $111 we will NOT be coming back.

I want our golf course to survive. It can be a great course. I have played on other courses around here that actually have grass on them. With cutting our course do much keeping it to short is not what I think is good management. Other courses are battery and less expensive. Things need to get better

This place is truly coming back to life! You can tell the new management team truly cares about this course. The superintendent and his assistant have been working tirelessly, bringing real expertise and passion to every detail — from course conditions to overall presentation. The transformation has been impressive, and it’s clear they’re just getting started!

Where do I begin. The pro shop is super friendly and Ben’s over backwards. Do whatever they can to place you had a good teatime for a great price. They were very friendly and very accommodating and I appreciate that the greens were very nice and it didn’t feel crowded. The golf carts were flawlessly clean and they worked very well without the obnoxious beeping when you go to an alleged restricted area. We were conscious to stay off the course where we were supposed to, but for the most part, it was a very easy course to navigate. It’s a nice layout and a lot of great holes to drive on the otte…

Just played cranes roost. Greens are ok. Fairways are deplorable. No grass. Better to hit onto the rough where there is some dormant grass. Two other courses nearby have very good and green fairways. Better off to take a small piece of carpet to perch the ball on if you're going to play this course. Way over priced for the condition. I feel sorry for the people that own homes on this golf course community. I'm sure it's not what they want.

The staff needs to use more common sense when the person that calls in says this is their first time playing. And the man on the phone in the pro shop says oh you're going to enjoy it it's a very challenging beautiful course. Are you kidding me right now? This is during the winter months still and all golf courses are usually in good shape. This one is horrible. Absolutely horrible. I am a good golfer and I will not ever come back to this place. The potential is there. But the staff should have first said hey they're sand all over the golf course and the greens. Here is $10 off or maybe you wa…

First off , don’t lie on the phone a says the course on otter creek has totally been redone . (On the phone). Second we should have known why there was 25% off on the price. So when my foursome gets there , we ask again on 2/23/25. Why the 25 % off ? The lady response with the course has been redone looking beautiful and next we’re closing cranes roost !!!! Ok so we go out , look at this course pics don’t lie folks for 43.00 it should have been 20.00. Never again !!! Will be telling all the folks in the villages, lady lake . And surrounding areas of the golf community.. don’t go to this trash…

We have played both courses. The fairways aren’t all great as some need healthy grass. Some greens are more challenging. The Cranes Roost course has a better layout in my opinion. A bit pricey for its current condition.

Cranes Roost and Otter Creek have made phenomenal comebacks following this past year’s hurricanes. Both courses are in great condition and are under the guidance of a new PGA professional and General Manager. “Otter’s Revenge” on the back nine of Otter Creek provides a challenge to even the best golfers and offers pristine greens.

We got 4 discount coupons from Group Golf to play Cranes Roost at the Plantation GC for an eight o'clock shotgun start. We were not told the greens were being aerated and sanded. Some of the geeens were 70 to 80% covered in sand with 100% of the greens being aerated. Putting was a challenge and after a few holes we decided the maximum putts allowed would be 3 per green. The fairways were in poor to good condition with at least one where we got to play through the sprinklers. The course was not worth the 1/2 price discount. Of our group of 4 no one wants to return to play this course. Other cou…

Waaaay overpriced! The last lady that described it as a cow pasture was right on! Greens were terrible and they were the best part. This is a $29 for 18 holes course. Do not recommend at alll.
