Sprain is a nice local (public) course that's very conveniently located in Yonkers NY. The fairways and greens were in really good shape, especially considering how hot and dry it has been. Wooded and scenic with a moderate challenging course. Not a lot of bunkers and a few water traps. Great for all levels of play. I base my reviews on convenience of location and price. Update-May2023 The course is in beautiful shape, scenic and enjoyable to play.

I'm only rating this as a place to sled, I don't golf. The hills are perfect to sled with kids, and the parking lot is right in top of the hills. It's great!

Pretty nice course. Somewhat challenging, with fairly narrow fairways and quite a few elevation changes leading to blind tee shots and hitting off sloping lies for approach shots. The course itself was in pretty good condition, with the exception of the greens, which had recently be aerated and looked and played slow like they hadn't been cut in a minute. The course slope is listed as 124 from the blue/back tees, but it felt harder. Probably closer to 128. It's not that long of a course, so maybe that's the reason for the (relatively) low slope rating.

The old guy who collects the balls at the range is very odd. I was there with a buddy and shared the bucket. He comes over and says we are not supposed to do that. We don't really pay attention to him and move on. After we hit some balls for a while and stopped to chat, at that time, he came over again and, without asking us, started to take the leftover balls. We told him we were not done and he again said we are not supposed to stop to chat. I guess the driving range has special rules here.

Organised and good reception as you arrive. Being Halloween, the course has been decorated amazingly! It was great to play each hole and see the fantastic decorations. Course has a scenic back nine, most enjoyable.

Course is in pretty good shape —tee’d off at 38 years old — now I am 56. Brutal/slow course with no rangers to keep pace. If you want a 6 hour round — sign up here.

Golf is a game of ethics and integrity. It may be the only sport where you can call a penalty on yourself. My son and I played Sprain Lake Golf Course on April 17th. The course was beautiful! The food was wonderful. The driving range was interesting on the positive side. I paid $70. (Full price) I am a senior and what I paid was not consistent with the web site. We teed off and I hit the first green in regulation only to realize that the greens had been, very recently aerated. They were not playable at all. We played 9 holes and left. You would think that management would disclose this conditi…

One of the Westchester County’s Six County Courses. Very well maintained and landscaped, challenging par 5’s, and enjoyable greens. Reasonable rates and a local gem with great waterfront views

I attended an event here on 4/5 with some friends. Two stars because the comedians were good and the buffet dinner was fine. There was a pitcher of tap water on the table that we went through quickly since dry heat was booming down on us. When I walked over to the bar to ask for another pitcher of water, the young blond girl behind the bar was very unfriendly and told me curtly that the water pitchers were $5. I stood there with my small empty plastic cup in hand and said it was just tap water. She was clearly annoyed, grabbed my cup, added about 4 ounces of water from the bar and handed it ba…
