In summary

Shawnee Golf Course is frequently praised for its beautiful layout, friendly and helpful staff, and well-maintained greens, making it a popular choice for both beginners and more experienced players. The course offers a driving range and practice areas, adding to its appeal as a public facility. However, some visitors have noted issues with the fairways, often attributed to past flooding, and a few have experienced less than satisfactory customer service in the pro shop.

Fantastic course. Probably the best public course I've played in to date in Louisville. Would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Also did a great job helping with our company charity scramble!

It is not as nice as the last time I was there. But if you're in that area for an event space...you should check it out. Needed 3 to 4 more round tables but we made it work.

After all, this has been under water several times and taking that into consideration it’s not in the best shape. These pictures are of the back nine fairways and as you can see there isn’t much to hit off of. Finding a tuff of grass and placing the ball on it was the best case scenario. These guys need to reseed and put a little money into it. The front nine is in much better shape and the bunkers are in great shape and very playable. The staff are super duper and very helpful.

Pretty nice course, well maintained and good for beginners (not much water/sand traps). Will definitely play again. Greens were well maintained when I played.

The price is decent which is only reason its not 1 star. Used to be a decent place to play but in really rough shape now, was cheaper earlier in the year but has gone up for whatever reason. Dude that runs the club house is a clown. Will yap for 5 minutes about nonsense then call you to the tee box 30 minutes before your tee time after you just left the club house. The course is barely hardly in shape for a public course and they want to act like its a country club. I'd suggest going elsewhere.

Wide open course with lots of room for beginners and still long enough for the advanced players.. fairways are improving from the floods and greens and tee boxes were in great shape. Didn't feel rushed and the pro came and showed me the layout as it was my first time playing.. Will definitely be back..

Absolutely fantastic staff. They made the groom feel extra special when they called him up to the tea box with a special announcement. The layout is a ton of fun and a great location to Louisville.

Update: 9/10/25 played the other day here with my wife and her grandpa had the best experience of the year and course is really coming along you guys have done a great job meant to change this earlier in the week. 8/1/25 - I understand Shawnee has been through a lot, especially with the flooding, and some course conditions — like the fairways — might take time to recover. But what’s really ruining the experience isn’t just the grass. It’s the attitude in the pro shop. The older white guy working there is incredibly rude and acts like he doesn’t want to be there at all. Golf is supposed to be…

The course I've played the most, and I've probably played, maybe, 40 times in my life!? This course could very well make you feel real good about your atrocious club swings! Recently played here for the first time this year, and I shot a 91. If you don't know what that means, it's about the equivalent of shooting the same score in, uh, bowling? 😳 BUUUUT, it's great for a person who plays to have fun with friends, who occasionally looks better than said friends who take it a little more seriously 😁 Oh, and you can include beer in that fun, too. Cheers!

Fairways and rough needed work, BUT the place was under water 2 weeks prior. However, greens were perfect! I'll definetly go back and play later in the summer.
