Saxon Woods is one of my favorite places to play golf. The course is always in great shape and is fun but still challenging. The driving range is awesome for practicing, and everything is kept really clean. The staff are friendly and make it a great place to spend time. Whether I’m playing a round or just hitting balls, I always have a great experience here.

Course was nice. Good layout. Plastic balls at the range though? Really? Tried to then practice bunker shots in the practice facility and was told I couldn’t. Won’t be back.

*2024 update- Saxon Woods is in great shape and wonderful to play. Get out there while it still sunny. Saxon Woods is a beautiful Westchester Public golf course and restaurant. The fairways and greens are in great shape. The course is difficult enough for very good players but also lenient for newer players. A fun and scenic course, with great prices on discounted websites like GolfNow and TeeOff. The restaurant offers typical pub dining in a nice outside environment. Played my first round here this year (4/2023). The course is in great shape and wonderful to play.

AVOID AT ALL COST. This is literally the worst in Westchester. We encountered the rudest starter we’ve ever met, who tried to blame us for being late even though we had already checked in before tee time. Despite arriving on time, the starter chose to send out the group behind us first — conveniently, his friends. After waiting 15 minutes for that group to tee off (and spend excessive time searching for balls without progressing and chatting and walking slowly), we finally stepped up to play. Yet the starter interrupted us again, insisting that our female players could only play from the for…

Good well kept public course. Besides the beautiful course, there is a range, restaurant and shop at the main building. Parking is good size, so funding a spot is not hard. From the course you can also access the Saxon Woods Park that surrounds the east side.

Slow pace of play, be prepared to play a 5-hour round, even on a weekday in November. We were there on Tuesday and complained to the ranger about the slow group in front and were told by the ranger, "This is a public course, deal with it". Plus, the group in front is regulars and they are there 5 times a week. No respect for the rest of the group behind them or trying to move them along. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I went to the bar a grill. We ordered nachos and wings. Nachos were reallllllyyyyy good. The chili wasn’t spicy. I wish the cheese was a cheese sauce, however. The wings were SOOOO crispy. We got sauce on the side because I am particular about my bbq sauce. The sauce was the style I liked so I was please!

A pocket Tillinghast design at publinx greens fees. Great course for this level, marred only by the dangerous driving range set-up.

Go to Maple Moor instead Terrible time management, I’ve golfed at Saxon about 15 times this year. Minimum 6 hour round, 15min wait at every tee box, 3 groups on 1 hole consistently. They overbook tee times to maximize profit at the loss of playability for the player. Just not worth your time. Can’t build momentum, every swing you take feels like you’re cold and haven’t started yet. If you schedule a 2:30pm tee time, don’t expect to actually start until 245/3. Love the course, wish they weren’t as greedy and spread out the tee times better so you can actually play a round. Haven’t been able…

Place is a joke and a bunch of scammers. Booked a tee time and they call me 2 days prior to the tee time saying there's a 'glitch in the system' and that the tee time isn't reserved it's reserved for people who pay a $400 fee for a standing tee time so now I am left with nowhere else to golf on a weekend being that this late in the week everything is already booked up everywhere. Just horrible operational management and terrible people not even offering a valid solution or a free round.

The rudest starter I’ve ever met. He blamed us for being late even though we were on time — the clubhouse had overcharged us by $20, and we were simply fixing the issue before heading to the tee. We arrived at the tee box just two minutes before our booked tee time, yet he immediately started yelling at us. During the round, we politely suggested he help manage the slow group ahead, but he ignored it completely. Instead, he yelled again, saying, “This is a public course, if you don’t like it, go play at Sprain Lake or Maple Moor.” He mentioned he’s been here for ten years, which honestly mak…
