In summary

Pohick Bay Golf Course is appreciated for its scenic layout featuring elevation changes and a challenging design, making it a favorite for many golfers seeking an affordable option in the Virginia area. The staff is generally regarded as friendly, and the course offers a good pace of play and practice facilities. However, there are significant concerns about course maintenance, particularly the condition of the greens and fairways, which some find inconsistent and not reflective of the price charged.

Good course to play. It could be an awesome course in the future, but it is in need of some maintenance. First, the good. The scenery, elevation changes, and nature (deer, birds, etc...) are awesome. I agree with other recent reviews that the bones of this course are very good. It can be challenging and fun to play. Now, the needs improvement part. I understand it is summer, but other courses are in better conditions with the same weather and past heat. Some areas of the fairways and some greens are in terrible shape. The green on # 2 has very little grass. The greens on # 1 and # 2 have pil…

I'm an avid golfer and have enjoyed dozens of rounds at Pohick in the past. I am fully aware that courses are struggling this year and understand the need to aerate greens etc. I usually have no problems with this and it's part of keeping the courses in shape all year and this is the first review I've ever left. However I've never seen conditions like this and a course charging full price. Golfer's beware tee boxes are gone. Most greens are all sand no grass. Will look forward to a few months down the road when it's worth the price of admission again and I'll update this review.

Great golf course. Definitely worth the price. Good pro shop, nice folks working there. All around go experience. Cart girls absent. Very well manicured sand traps. Videos from play thru of hole 6,7, and 18.

We recently had the pleasure of having a business meeting golfing! This golf course is the most affordable one we have found in the Virginia area and the course is well taken care of! I would certainly recommend a visit if it’s your first time or you just trying to get a round in.

Played here on a Monday in September 2018. I rented clubs (Strata) and the off at 9:15. They have a driving range and putting green for practice. The pro shop is limited but have what you need. The course has some elevation changes and most holes were in good condition. The course was busy but the pace was good and we got around in 4 hours. If you found my review helpful please give a thumbs up 👍

This course is gorgeous. The rough is thick and the course has so many elevation changes. It's tight..there are woods all around you, but very fun to play.

Very challenging course. Beautiful range, great putting and short practice area. One of my favorite courses.

For all the people who are bashing a lot of the public courses locally in the DMV - give em a break!! In the last few weeks in August, i've played Herndon, Twin Lakes, Penderbrook (weekly league night) and Laurel Hill...every course got beat up and is recovering. You gotta remember that some of these munis don't have the budget of a private club, so they're doing what they can and not fair to compare to Westwood or Belle Haven down the road. I was actually pleasantly surprised how amazing the tee boxes and fairways were, very very well kept for this time of the year. This round happened in la…

Really bad experience trying this course. Fairways are all gone as you can see below, crab grass throughout the course. Tee boxes are destroyed as well. No rough, no fringe, just crab grass. Starter came up to our group 2 different times mid round asking to add to our group on hole 3 and 11 and proceeded to say they’re outta carts as well so he doesn’t know when they will link up. Hard to leave a review but this is just laughable for $70.

Great course, I've played here for over 25 years. Always in good condition, it's a decently challenging hilly layout. Great value for what it costs to play there relative to other options in the area. Pace of play is good on all but the busiest of times. My last round we caught up to some backed up golfers on #12 and had a short wait on most tees the rest of the way but still finished in 3 hours and 40 minutes. If you've never played here give it a try!

What used to be my go-to course in the area (barring getting a tee time at Twin Lakes) is now not worth half of what they are charging for it. I'm not sure what's happened in the last few months, but not only is the course a disaster (literally the worst greens I've ever seen on a course that costs more than $20), but the demeanor of most everyone working there has become unpleasant as well. The kids working the counter are all fine, but all of the adults have turned into your sterotypical grumpy golf course drill sergeants. Really a shame that they've let the course go from a local favorite t…

There is no way that this course should have costed ~$70 for a 3:10pm weekend tee time. Maybe 2 of 18 greens were in decent shape. I say MAYBE 2 because the only one I can vividly remember not having dry patches covering it was #18. I played here earlier in the season and they were all in fine shape. I get that the weather has been bad, but none of the other courses in the area are in that bad of shape. This is just clear negligence. Hole #2 green is basically a sand trap. $76 is an absolute rip off for the condition the course is in right now. Even the greens at GREENDALE in Alexandria are i…
