In summary

Old Corkscrew Golf Club is widely praised for its challenging Jack Nicklaus-designed layout, natural setting, and friendly, accommodating staff. Many golfers appreciate the well-maintained fairways and practice facilities, as well as the reasonable rates for the quality offered. However, some visitors have expressed concerns about the condition of the greens, citing issues like fungus and sand patches, which have affected the overall experience for some.

Exceptional course. Truly is a second-shot course with open fairways and tight greens with plenty of challenge to putt. Pace of play was a little slow during our visit because of a large group a couple holes ahead, but it was a great excuse to spend more time on the course.

What an outstanding golf course!!! Get out and play it before June 30 th when it's due to shut down and go private. This Jack Nicklaus design is worth it to play. Top notch staff, great conditions, lightning fast greens. No houses around the course, just natural habitat.

Incredible course layout through well groomed Florida landscape. The greens are back in playable shape with only minor repair remaining. Sand traps were not groomed but there was 5"+ of rain in the last 24 hours (you shouldn't be in the traps anyway). Greens not quite rolling as smooth as they once were, but considering how wonderful this course is, play it now before it closes in May 2026 for remodeling.

Challenging layout with real potential, but the greens are in unacceptable condition and nowhere near what the peak-season pricing suggests. This is a $100 course at best, not a $300 experience. I won’t be coming back, which is unfortunate because with proper maintenance this place could be special.

Plenty of good courses around, but Old Corkscrew is my go-to. Built really well, always maintained, great paths, and a good challenge. Being out in a preserve makes it feel more relaxed as your golfing through the woods instead of lined with townhomes. Staff is friendly and makes it easy to enjoy the day.”

Old Corkscrew Golf Course is the best public golf I’ve found in Southwest Florida for under $200. Sure, there’s Saltleaf (Raptor Bay), but who wants to spend $500 a round on a course that isn’t even a PGA Tour venue? If I’m paying that, I’d rather play something like Innisbrook’s Copperhead—fantastic and worth the price. For value and pure golf, Old Corkscrew is the pick. The course is very challenging in the best way. Fairways are fast and contoured correctly. There’s a ton of perfectly placed water that really makes you think off the tee. The bunkers are amazing—soft white sand that’s consi…

Such a great course! The conditions were amazing and everything was so well maintained. The rates are very reasonable, especially for how nice the course is. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. As a female golfer, I felt comfortable and appreciated here. I’ll definitely be back!

Well, where do I start. A group of us went to the west coast from miami for two out of the 8 big birthdays. Was a wonderful trip at all other 3 other golf course but the Old Corkscrew golf course. This course looks wonderful from the website but let me tell you the greens are in real bad shape. To make it worse they charge full rack rate. We talked to everyone on the outside about how bad the greens are in and most of them said it’s been bad for years. We were mislead from the start. Talking to the other courses in the area they all think that is misleading the public what they are doing. But,…

Don't go until they have fixed the greens! It is a terrible shame that this terrific course has unplayable greens. There has been a fungus or something and large sections of grass is just gone and replaced with sand. The layout, the challenge, the entire golf course is outstanding -- but the experience is completely ruined because most of the time you are landing on sand, or putting across sand. What grass they do have is not cut (likely to promote new growth?) But in the end, it is a shame. They are supposed to notify you as you are paying your $190 to go play, but they forgot to tell us. I heard a lot of good and not so good about this course, so I decided to try it. Staff was very nice and happy.... course was great, no houses very secluded. Some beautiful holes and somewhat challenging, Some reviews spoke about the greens being in bad shape but they were not bad at all.

The rest of them came here to golf… but for me like everything else in life it was about the food after shooting a humble 80 over we went to the club house to enjoy the fruits of my labor with a (spicy chicken sandwich) . What I was served was a substantially crispy chicken breast with what appeared to be RED HOT or some other vinegar based hot sauce conservatively dribble on the top with like half a damn pickle cut up witch immediately came off. Over all for what it was it was surprisingly good and the service was great Extra points for Red Bull
