In summary

Morro Bay Golf Course is praised for its stunning views, well-maintained greens, and friendly staff, creating an enjoyable golfing experience reminiscent of more prestigious courses. The course offers a variety of challenges, particularly with its fast and tricky greens, while the overall layout and ocean views enhance its appeal. However, some visitors express concerns about the slow pace of play and occasional overcrowding, which can detract from the experience.

Me and a buddy got a tee time for mid day on a Friday. I wasn’t sure what to expect considering the $40 a person green fee and being a public course. I was blown away by the staff and course conditions. The staff in the pro shop were incredibly nice and even gave us a mini tour to show us where the starter was and how to use the dispenser for the driving range. The starter was friendly and on point. She even offered us to move up about 20 mins early. We chose to stick to our time and enjoyed the course with a single that joined us. The course is well kept. The only thing that could use a littl…

Yes, the views are great, and the course is in good shape, but play is slow, chaotic and the Marshall does not do anything when a flight has 8 players in 3 carts holding up everybody. Carts ran out of juice several times. With a bit more care it would be a great course.

Beautiful course. Lightning greens that roll true to the break. Cheatcode: they break to spot in the Bay. Great food and service. Only downside, they put too many players on the course. It's guaranteed to be slow. But enjoy the view!

The staff were super friendly, and the course itself offers a good variety of challenges with different types of greens—great for sharpening your game. The location and views also add a lot to the overall experience. That said, I was playing with my son and found a few of the regulars to be less than patient with newer golfers, which was a bit disappointing. The main issue, however, was the course marshal—who didn’t do much to manage pace of play. We ended up skipping the 10th hole due to a backup caused by a slow-moving, drinking foursome, and continued from the 11th, which was wide open thr…

This was the most disgusting experience I’ve ever had at a golf course. The round started out having to wait past our tee time because people were so slow, our original tee time was 11:30 and I think we teed off at 11:40 then the marshal was getting after us about how we have to hurray it up even tho we waited at the minimum 5 minutes at every singe tee box, I remember at one point on a par three 2 different times there was 5 groups on the 2 holes, one singe par 3 took us 32 minutes exactly and the other one took around 29, they obviously need to shrink the amount of available tee times. The f…

Love this course! amazing views on every hole. The greens are very small and difficult to read, making this course one of the more difficult public courses. Sometimes it can get overbooked and the pace of play is slow, but the marshal does a good job at keeping it moving. Highly recommend this experience

Fantastic course. Greens are well kept and course staff including the marshal were just incredible hospitable and courteous. The views are just magnificent! My favorite view is hole #9 where you oversee the beautiful greens and the ocean in this magnificent picture … all while playing golf. I would come back here just for the views, but I love golf too much. I can wait to come back here. I would definitely recommend this place to all my family and friends

It's a beautiful golf course, with great views, well maintained and generally fun to play. If you can live with a 5-6 hour round, you'll enjoy it. That being said, it was not unusual to have 3 and 4 groups on many holes, especially on the front side, and that certainly can detract from an otherwise enjoyable day.

Amazing public course. Beautiful fairways and greens. Very forgiving course. Beautiful views on pretty much every hole. Fairways are like lush carpet. Greens were fun! Only downside… the flow of play can get jam packed and slow. It boils down to golf etiquette and unfortunately, not too many folks golfing these days even know what that is. However, bottom line, it was a great course and I wish I could play it every day!! Big thanks to the crew who maintain the grounds, beautiful job 🤙🙏⛳️

Beautiful course, tough greens but just way too booked. At some points we were waiting for tees four parties deep. Wasn't fun. We ended up bailing after 9 holes because the course was oversold. Management needs to consider the play experience and waiting to play isn't the right experience.

What really makes Morro Bay Golf Course special is the people. Tammy Doshier, Head Pro and General Manager, and Kevin “Schmitty” Schmitt handle the course with professionalism and warmth. They always greet players with a smile and genuinely care about your experience every time you play. I get to play a lot of courses, and I’m always happy to return home here. The views of the bay and Morro Rock are hard to beat, and while the layout is approachable, the greens definitely keep you on your toes. It’s a course our community can be proud of.
