In summary

Maplegate Country Club is appreciated for its challenging layout and overall course condition, especially given recent dry weather. However, many visitors express frustration with the slow pace of play, often attributing it to tightly scheduled tee times, and some have reported dissatisfaction with staff interactions and the condition of certain course areas like tee boxes and greens.

This is easily the worst golf course in Massachusetts. I played this course a few weeks ago with a few groups of buddies and could not have had a worse time. Don’t get me wrong, the course was in pretty good shape, however the snails pace of play and the staff attitude completely outweighed any positives on the actual course. We went to play 9 later in the afternoon, hoping that there would be some relief in the amount of people on the course, however the tee times 4 minutes apart made that impossible. Walking up to the first tee, there were already 3 groups waiting to tee off. It was a beauti…

Fun course but it took us 1.5 hours to get through the first 4 holes, ending the round at 5.5 hours. Some of the tee boxes were more sand than grass. The greens are a mine field of pitch parks. $80 to walk is very steep for the conditions provided.

Extremely disappointed with the condition of this course. The fairways and greens were in rough shape, and the cart paths were practically unusable — full of rocks and potholes that made for a miserable ride. Not a single seed mix or sand bottle on any cart to repair divots, which just shows a lack of basic course maintenance. It felt like the staff had completely given up on upkeep. For the price, this place is nowhere near worth it. Won’t be coming back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone serious about golf.

First time playing Maplegate was a great experience. The course is a challenge from every tee box. I will be returning.

Frustrating Round – Not Worth the Money I recently played this course and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I paid for 18 holes but only managed to get through 9 in over 3 hours due to an extremely slow pace of play. There was a three-group backup on nearly every hole, and the ranger did nothing to manage the logjam or keep things moving. It completely killed any flow to the round. To make matters worse, the staff was unprofessional and told us we had to pay for the group using a single credit card due to “system issues,” which seemed more like laziness than a technical probl…

Worst course I have ever played at. The staff is incredibly ignorant and rude. Particularly Lenny, who had an attitude as soon as we checked in at the clubhouse. After reading other reviews it is clear that he treats everyone this way, while patrons overpay for a below average course. Dude needs some serious lessons in customer service and how to be a decent person.

Solid course, fun layout. Pretty much get what you’re paying for in terms of golf, maybe a little overpriced. The starter told me I legally couldn’t play from the back tees, and the round pace is 6 hours. Waiting for 10+ minutes to tee off on every hole. Brutal waiting + starter was pretty rude

Overpriced. Overbooked. Rude staff think they are running Augusta National. 6 hours to play 18 holes. Worst golf experience imaginable. Please save yourself the headache of coming here.

The tee boxes, greens, and traps are in terrible shape. Pace of play is atrocious. Ritchie, the Starter/Ranger loves to go on a power trip and harass your group about pace of play even though you have to wait on every tee box, and on every fairway to hit your sho. Pace of play is a self-inflicted issue from the course stacking tee times on top of each other. this place either needs new management or it should be torn down as planned... Never coming back here!

Good track. Great shape for the lack of rain the last couple months. Played on a Monday so pace of play wasn’t an issue for me.

This course is really nice & in good shape. The layout is great the difficulty level is just ok. It would have 5 stars if it wasn't so backed up. It looks like they send off carts about every 8 minutes. They should just switch this to 10 minutes knowing a lot of beginners play here. Also I did here that even if the tee times are booked they let people jump in anyways... I did hear that the Rangers try to push people along but I didn't see any the day I was there. I did have a 5 1/2 hour round. Hopefully they figure out the timing here because it has alot of potential.

Great course, love playing it. Started raining, kicked us off the course we were on hole 10 wouldn’t give us 9 hole rain check. We were going low, front desk guy wouldnt budge on 9 hole check , took his job too seriously. Other staff was super friendly. Don’t know if I’ll be back.
