In summary

Loyal Oak Golf Club receives mixed reviews, with some visitors appreciating its wide fairways, friendly staff, and suitability for beginners. However, many criticize the course's maintenance, citing poorly kept fairways, outdated facilities, and a cash-only policy as significant drawbacks. The course's condition and amenities suggest a need for improvements to meet the expectations of more experienced golfers.

Wow—what an experience! This golf course is truly a gem for anyone who’s ever thought, “You know what would make golf better? Playing on an airport runway with random swamps thrown in.” The fairways are a bold artistic choice—grass is so overrated, after all—and the concrete-like ground really adds to the challenge. Why hit a normal iron shot when you can chip sparks off your 7-iron? The water features are especially inspiring. Who needs manicured ponds when you can have full-on swampland right in the middle of play? Nothing says “championship course” like losing three balls to an ecosystem t…

Course is not maintained, or if it is… not very well. Fairways are nearly indistinguishable from rest of cuts. Typically the only way you’d know you’re in a fairway is because it was mostly dirt. Iron play is a guessing game because of how hard some of the fairways might be. Greens were mostly okay, but a few had patches of dead grass scattered around leading to high or unexpected sideways bounces. Exposed hoses, sewer pipes, etc on some holes lead to interesting bounces and lies. Not worth the drive, not worth the time, and certainly not worth anywhere near $50. Definitely has the feel of own…

Not sure what the bad reviews are for, it's not pebble beach but not a lot of places are. It's well maintained and the pace of play is better than most. Been there a few times this year and wont hesitate to go back when I am in the area Just played there for my 3rd time. Still 5 stars and will continue to come back.

I agonized a bit between three and four stars. The first nine was missing quite a bit of grass but the 2nd nine was in great shape. The holes are some of the largest I have seen. Huge fairways and greens. The greens were readable and puttable. Not too fast or too flow. The clubhouse is ancient and the golf carts had to be 30 years old. It had the charm of an old time golf course so I gave them 4 stars. The most interesting thing about this course is a Herman Keiser who owned the course in the 1950s won the Masters in1946 and he was also on the Ryder Cup team. Photos in the club house.

Great course for beginners to intermediate players. Started playing here as a new golfer this Summer and have improved greatly. 27 holes with a good mix of par 3, 4, and 5s. Greens are well-kept and staff is extremely friendly. Pros shop is nice and quaint. Just an all-around great place to enjoy a round of golf.

The staff was friendly, but the fairways were truly terrible. You could hit a beautiful drive, and still end up in the dirt based on the poor maintenance of the fairways. The greens were decent but tough to read.

No real food to speak of. Grass is mostly dead with lots of potholes. I twisted my ankle a bit. Definitely nothing I would say was nice attractive or aesthetically pleasing about the course. Also cash only FYI they have an ATM that they will charge you a fee to use. Make sure you keep the little paper receipt they print out. Guarantee they are claiming almost nothing on taxes otherwise why stay so far in the past?

Not the fanciest but I love this place..Great place to take begginers, wide fairways, and 3 sets of 9 holes...cash only, atm inside

A cash only ATM shakedown with anemic, crusty greens, tee boxes shaggier than the rough (only because the rough is so burnt you can't differentiate it from the burnt out fairway), and holes so over grown that we lipped out puts that doinked the flag stick. Worst $50 ($52.75 with ATM fee) I've spent in a long time. And don't even try blaming a lack of rain when every other course is lush right now.

If you are a golfer that keeps score do not go here its not fair to you!! If you are going here cause you like hitting golf balls save your money and go the range. I dont think this can be called a golf course by definition.

Used to love coming here, affordable course and wide fairways for a good time. Now, this course is absolutely destroyed. Little to absolutely no fairway grass left, you are hitting off of dirt 50% of the time. if they send you off on the 3rd nine, do yourself a favor and turn around to get back in your car). Paying $50 per person including a $14 cart fee is genuinely criminal for a course in this horrendous of a condition. Go ANYWHERE else, im begging you.

not one to write a review but felt the need to, loyal oak is overpriced, the fairways are farm fields, horribly maintained, and it’s wet, chunky everywhere you hit. there were at least 5 balls i could not find (that did not go out of bounds) that i assume just went straight into the ground because i spent too much time trying to find golf balls that i thought i hit nice. if it wasn’t for that i would have been playing decent golf. bunkers are mud pits. not to mention the carts are old, if they charge so much why not upgrade the carts and maintain the course better? pine valley has bluetooth, y…
