In summary

Idylwild Golf Club is appreciated for its engaging layout and friendly staff, with some visitors noting improvements in course conditions and a welcoming atmosphere. However, there are significant concerns about the greens' maintenance, with several reviews mentioning poor conditions and lack of upkeep. While the course has shown resilience following past flood damage, ongoing issues with certain areas, particularly the greens, have been highlighted by multiple guests.

All 18 holes are open again! Brand new front 9 greens and the back 9 greens are the best I’ve seen in recent years. Course layout is fun and you can use every club in the bag. Staff is friendly. Great option for the price

I hadn’t been here for about 20 years. I’m a little bit of a golf course snob and I thought for what it is it was a fantastic course. Great engaging layout and the greens were rolling true in December. I can’t wait to see it in the summer

Only back 9 is open. But the best I’ve ever seen it. Greens are great. Said they are getting close to opening the front 9.

By far the worst course condition I have ever played on. The fairways had weeds like it was the rough. I shouldn’t be rewarded with a good shot by ending up in a slightly better rough. The greens had literal bunkers on them. It sounded like playing on a baseball field

The young lady in the clubhouse was the only positive thing about my experience here today. I had a raincheck for 9 and paid for 9, after I paid she told me only the front was open, they were still trying to catch up on the grass. I said that is what they told me 2 weeks ago, how long does it take to cut the grass and with no rain in weeks? So I intended to play front twice but tee boxes were like concrete and couldn’t get a tee in without a hammer, I guess they never get watered. Most of the 9 greens were absolutely horrible. The greens were not just dead for the most part, they were horrendo…

The greens are the worst I have ever played on. Some greens are nothing but dirt. Course needs to be closed until they can get the grass growing again. There is just a general lack of maintenance. Bunkers full of weeds and parts not mowed. Will not go back. 0 stars if I could.

Nicely remodeled clubhouse, course could stand some work, putting greens closed-deplorable condition. Fee for driving range $6 per page, 60 per bag...

David has the course in great shape, best I've seen it in a long time, tees, fairways, are immaculate, still needs some work on some other the greens. Overall pleasantly surprised, good job, David and staff.

Idylwild Golf Club was hit pretty hard in Hurricane (okay tropical storm for us) Harvey in 2017 as was all of Pinewood. Every house in the subdivision or close to that number was flooded -- some with 7 feet of water or more. There was talk that the club might not reopen. That seemed a shame because there was a nearly new clubhouse. But, the club did reopen and it looks good. I've seen some workers out there cleaning things up and some repair work. It's a rural club where you often can catch a glimpse of deer or other wildlife.

Course has made a great comeback from Harvey flooding in August 2017. Great local public course. Friendly, and helpful staff. Nice practice area.

Unfortunately they've lost the greens. Fairways and around the greens looks great and it's a great layout. Really sad the greens are gone.

Worst course I’ve ever played on, greens are terrible, fairways are ok, no signs to tell you what hole you’re on. DO NOT! Waste your money here
