In summary

Harry L. Jones Sr. Golf Course is appreciated for its challenging layout, friendly staff, and recent improvements, including well-maintained fairways and greens. The course offers a good value for a public venue, with unique features such as rolling hills and creative holes. However, some visitors have noted issues with the greens' speed and condition, as well as the need for cart path repairs and better restroom facilities.

I haven’t played here in 10 years and it’s way better with Bermuda greens, as expected. However It’s like they don’t have a greens mower so they just cut it fairway height. I have a stimp meter and measured them at 5.5, which is extremely slow. But It is possible to Make putts at least since the grass is pretty good and consistent. You just have to pound it

My first time golfing here today and it was a real treat. The largest and most challenging course I’ve golfed on in Charlotte. It’s a Man’s course! 😏 Most of the holes are about 400 - 500 yards or more. It can get a little confusing with the hole placement on holes 4 and so on I believe, but I enjoyed my round. The only thing I would wish for is I wish they had outdoor restrooms rather than Porta-Jons, but I think they are working on that and that’s why the course is currently under construction. I will definitely be back for another round! 🏌🏽⛳️

I went to the range Saturday and lost a ring of my own carelessness, and realized I’d lost it early this morning. I called in right when they opened, and the gentleman on the phone told me he’d send some people out to look for it. I had some extra time so was planning to go hit some balls this morning anyway. When I arrived, the gentleman at the desk-same as on the phone- was super friendly, and when I asked again about the ring, he let me know nothing was turned in but had a young man on staff give me a ride to the range. Then that man flagged down another staff member to help me look. I hadn…

The course has interesting features, rolling hills. I played 9 holes here many times. The back 9 holes are more challenging. They have made renovations and the snack shop is nice.

Greens are in bad shape. After aeration, they have not mowed so very bumpy with grass growing, and patches green that are died. I would not recommend to play here until they fix greens. Fairways are in good condition. Management is slow in fixing things. They do not tell you about greens when booking.

They are fixing cart path ! doing landscaping around the clubhouse. On the course new sand traps ,cutting back some of the woods for example on whole 15 (I think) they’re doing some major work and design just before the green on the right side. A lot is going on , in a good way. I’ve always been happy with their greens. You gotta be able to putt. Course gets a lot of play for municipal course. So tee boxes can get beat up. Front in the back nine are very different designs. A fun track, centrally located. I’m a senior and I’ll walk that course during the week. I think it cost $16 or it might be…

Public course. I played 18 holes and used driving range . Course was good, putting areas need some work. Nice golf carts. There is not much shade on the course. No trees on the cart path to block out the sun. Strict policy on bags/beverages on golf cart. Driving range- I can give you tips . I went on Tuesday afternoon after 5 pm. I think last call is 7pm. It’s long walk from clubhouse to driving range. You have to purchase balls inside the clubhouse first. Cheap yellow balls. Go inside and it’s $12 for large bucket/70 balls. No discount cards. The driving range is peaceful and nice scenery.…

I read some reviews for this course after I made my tee time, and I must say- I was nervous when I showed up today. I shouldn’t have been from the moment I walked into the pro shop, I was welcomed and treated like a friend. A welcome change from some of the courses I normally play around Raleigh. To be a municipal course, it was in BEAUTIFUL condition. There were three or four tee boxes that could use some love and a few stretches of cart path that need repaving, but I was very pleased with my experience. I also played my best round of golf ever. I hope I’m able to play here again when I’m ba…

Really a top notch course. Well maintained, beautiful layout. Some really creative holes on the back nine! Greens were in superb condition, although that didn't help my score. Pro shop is clean, friendly, and has a better-than-most bar/kitchen. To nitpick, if you're easily distracted by noise, planes are constantly flying in and out the whole course long. But that's a detail easily ignored with everything else this excellent course has to offer.

Decent course to get out and enjoy a day of golf. Not too challenging. Course has been taken care past few months and is looking great. Nice fairways and greens.

Course was in pretty good condition today for it being chilly and raining on and off. It was the first time I played it and had a lot of fun playing the doglegs and the uphill holes as well. The only thing that they need to work on are the cart paths which are very rocky and bumpy. Overall it’s a great course to play if you’re looking for a decent challenge.
