In summary

Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course is highly regarded for its well-maintained nine-hole layout, excellent practice facilities, and friendly, accommodating staff. The course offers a good mix of challenging and easy holes, making it suitable for both beginners and more experienced golfers. However, some visitors have noted issues with the booking system and occasional slow pace of play, particularly during busy times.

If it were possible to give this course more than five stars, I would. Charles Sifford has the best options from practice facilities for beginner golfers to shot shaping and target greens on the nine hole course for single digit handicappers. The employees care and that passion permeates to the overall experience. Kudos to James, Jay, Tom, Rick, Jeff, Bobby, Frank, Mary and the entire team for their hard work day-in and day-out to make this such a positive environment. With a recent management company change, there have been noticeable investments in making the course conditions rival privat…

What a great course! The practice areas mid day were fantastic and very expansive plenty of room (again mid-day on a Monday). The tee boxes, fairways and greens were exceptional (there were some weeds in the rough but thankfully I was not in the rough that much today. The 9th hole is a challenge and I lost two balls at the end with that challenging par 5 to end the round. I was able to play my 9 holes in and hour and 45 minutes. Staff was very very friendly and the turkey sandwich was delicious!

Be aware that you book online, which indicates you are booking under 'Meck County Golf Booking Engine', that you are booking through 'Golf Now' and not directly with the course. The issue here is that I needed to cancel my reservation and called the golf course to do that. I was informed that Golf Now was the holder of my reservation...and my money...and I had to contact them to cancel. That ended up being 20 minutes of giving information I had already filled out to make the reservation, which made me wonder if I was being scammed since there was no indication on the website that I was being d…

Great time minus the conditions. But that was to be expected with a ton of rain the day before.

Proud to call this course my go-to. Friendly staff, easy to operate golf carts. Easy to navigate the other golfers I meet are super friendly and the staff members particularly Rick and Q are amazing and super friendly. The only downside is I wish it was more than 9 holes because the course is really fun.

I took my 9 year old son who is just starting to play golf out to walk 9 late on Sunday afternoon. I’m trying to teach him good etiquette and how to manage playing a round, which he needs to know for upcoming junior tournaments. The course paired us with 2 very good adult golfers with terrible etiquette in a cart. We had a miserable time and walked off after 4 holes. The course should have told us what they’d arranged before we got to the first tee. We won’t be back.

Played on Christmas Eve for the first time. I was very happy with the staff and condition of the course. The greens were fantastic! The best that I have played in the Charlotte area recently. It was an easy drive up I77 from Rock Hill SC. I will definitely be back soon…..

This for the driving range, pitching and putting area - it’s really nice! - driving range about 12-14 stalls. You have go to this machine to get the balls. Bring bucket/bag to collect balls. Pay card at the machine. App is Ontogolf. If you download app you can save 20-25% for balls. Large bucket is $12 for 70 balls. I had hard time finding workers. So be prepared to do things on your own. Range is grass only, no mats. I had a lot of fire ants in the dirt. -Open till about 7pm -7:30pm -Putting and pitching area is beautiful. -Parking is tight. -I came late on Wednesday evening and it was busy.…

Great place to go for a nice 9 hole tuneup! Make sure to get out there really early unless you want to play a 3 hour 9. I usually get the first tee time and can get through in an hour or so! Decent conditions and lots of fun. Had my first eagle 2 out there! Love this place.

Quintessential muni golf: accessible, affordable, and unpretentious. It is not a country club. It's a nine-hole beater with a lot of personality and history (at nearly 100 years old). You will find an eclectic crowd at DCLS, with lots of beginners and families. Pace of play can be an issue, but you just have to be patient and enjoy it. Layout is a mixture of difficult and easy holes. Course is compact and walkable. It is also very well maintained, especially for the volume of play. Fairways are old-school Bermuda grass, which loves the hot weather. The course really pops in the summer and earl…

Great course in the heart of the Queen City. Outstanding staff and facility. Great range and chipping greens. Friendly yet challenging 9 holes that test your skills. Amazing value for the price. A beautiful tribute to it's namesake. I will be returning repeatedly.

So today was my first time at this course and it was a little busy and we were behind a group of older ladies. Our teatime was at 10:57 AM and the group of gentlemen behind us who said they all worked for the course and Were with one of the “managers” of the course was quite rude and disrespectful. They even got inside of our golf cart to move our cart because according to them, our speed of play was not fast enough, even though we were behind a group of elderly women the prices were fair. The course was nice, but if this was truly the management staff, I would not recommend. it was quite an a…
